Ah but as per previous advice from OP your insurance premium with Admiral is cheaper if car is declared as parked on street/ drive than being garaged, as Admiral view it as lower risk.

If that's really the case then insure it as parked on the road, then park it in your garage.

Win-win situation biggrin

Its completely stupid but thats how the stats work most people would say its garaged thinking it would be cheaper so its all about going again the stats. My insurance is brought down by about 50euros because I say I live in the next county (i live on the border) you can't blame people for saving money. I got a free tank of petrol out of it if you think about it like that.

Forgot about updating having a bit of a nightmare now.... Its been written off to started the cherished transfer to get my plate off as the salvage company have been instructed to collect it soon. The paying out it the big problem. As its a £20,000 + car you have to prove what you paid for it and show the transaction for how much you paid... Now before I was told this Admiral were saying they would payout up to £38500 which is still not enough as I had it sold for £41750. but now they are saying that can't pay me more than I paid for it. which is substantially lower.

Not sure where my rights are here but I was under the impression insurers had to be able to give you enough to replace the car like for like in "current" market condition. The car has appreciated slightly since I bought it and is worth £42k with the mileage and being black. I am seeking advice and won't be allowing the insurance to have the car picked up until I have the money I want for the car. The amount I have spent on insurance with them why can they not be fair now???

My feelings are to say to the insurers right, dont payout you go and find me a black GTR with less than 20,000 miles and replace it for me!

Really getting me down now as its quite a set back an could really cost me financially. My plan prior to the hailstorm was to be buying an R8 V10 can see it being a fair few months untill that happens now!

On a good note I got my uni results last week and got first class honours!!!

There are 2 on autotrader for £38k, one with 14k miles and one with 13.7k. You'd be lucky for the insurer to pay you how much you was about to sell it for, as the price you was selling it for wasn't the 'market value'.

R8 V10... Being a student and selling cars as "part time"... Wow.

Grats on the first hons! Sorry to hear about insurance problems but as someone above me said, it'll be hard to get insurers to pay out more than you've paid for the car in the first place...

How do you jump from a £40kish motor, to an R8 V10?? Bit of a jump! Surely 3k isn't going to make that much difference, or am I missing something....?

OP, clearly you are doing an amazing job buying low and selling heigh. But some of the jumps between cars is huge, are you injecting additional capital at each stage?

Great work though, and great choice of cars too!

To garage or not to garage?

I can understand the postcode statistics but are more garaged cars damaged or stolen than those that are kept outside?

I suspect it is more about the affordability, as a garage denotes a wealthier customer.

I think its more to do with how many cars are damaged putting them into garages
