Couldn't agree more, speaking of which did MDifficult have a go at your steering wheel over the weekend as well as the outside? That yellow area looks filthy and would do my head in more than the clock surround (which now looks lovely tbf)
With the current Coronavirus concerns, I decided to leave the interior for now. To be fair, it looked lovely and clean through the window (apart from the minging steering wheel laugh ) but I think he's got plans on that wink

Awesome, look forward to seeing the post covid-19 steering wheel update.

I see you're also in Berkshire, if you're bored this weekend and fancy a detailing tour I'll call shotgun!

Enjoyed reading this thread; a very cool car history.

The bread van is lovely but the M5 wagon was the highlight for me, especially on the combo wheels. cloud9

The little Clio looks good too; love the seats.

New steering wheel on order from ‘royal steering wheels’

Alcantara with matching yellow stitching and yellow stripe at 12

Also matching gator with stitching coming too

- it’s still a Clio interior but it’s as good as it could be!

The Touring will always be a highlight! Incredible car and genuinely a car I will always miss - ideal world I keep it forever but then I wouldn’t get to try out the bread van, which is my other great bucket list car!

The Clio is an epic daily - so much fun!

I’ve got an alcantara wheel from Royal and it’s lovely; their work is really good.

That’s good to hear!

I’ve been impressed with the level of knowledge they’ve shown and attention to detail in their questions for what I was after.

Now let’s hope I can swap the steering wheels over myself without blowing an air bag or something!

I was too (I wanted the stitching to match the blue stitching on my seats and it appears bang on). Having watched Jack swap my wheel over, I wished I’d done it myself rather than drive done there. It’s bloody easy and I’ve since swapped the wheel over on my other half’s old 1 series without causing any issues.

Brilliant read and an amazing collection! E28 M5, M5 Touring and Z3 all cars I’d love to own.

Also love the 635, can’t believe how little money they were not long ago!

So that plan went well!

Suspected head gasket- must be age (36 years) rather than mileage (42k) related!

Never mind - off to the garage it goes......

Lovely car history and I like the 944.

If you have mayonnaise in the header tank get them to check the oil cooler, as it lives inside the water jacket on the engine. Sometimes they pop. Headgaskets do go on these engines, they actually rot away. If your going to pull the head check the oil cooler as well.
Good luck and I hope you get it sorted.

So MCoupe is still in bits and 944 awaiting head gaskets so........

Back to the Clio!

So today I tried a new product on my already very very clean car

Fortify from Shine Armour in the states promises to do a bit of a ceramic effect and protect my nicely, freshly polished Clio.

First I waited a couple of weeks to let the wax and polish harden off from earlier session. Then it was a fairly simple process of wiping on with a damp micro-cloth and then buffing off with a dry one. Windows and all.

Not tested it yet outside or with a cup of dirty water!!!!! But initial thoughts are it gives a lovely smooth finish and was very easy to apply. Time will tell if it gives that ‘ceramic-lite’ effect

Retrimmed steering wheelarrives next week so I can give the interior some love.

Then I need to find some more cup wheels, Spray them lime green, buy two more Cup2 tyres and get my summer wheels on. Then I can get these wheels off for a refurb and maybe ceramic coating which would make keeping white wheels easier!!!

Fitted new steering wheel and gear gator from royal steering wheels (excellent quality)

Really lifts a cheap interior and I’d finally say the interior is feeling a bit special. Wheel feels and looks amazing.

Important mod with big bhp gains - the sticker! But gives a splash of yellow over that side.

Car is also now beyond clean! Even had the side trim off and cleaned!

Next job is the front discs and pads

You wouldn’t think that If you saw it at the moment! It got caught at the start of lockdown at a mates garage mid-tidy up and is now looking sorry for itself until this all blows over and it can get all its bits back!

I do love a well sorted Z4MC - underated car in my opinion!

Until I get it back though my Clio is getting all the attention!
I am in a semi-similiar boat with my M3. My unit isn't miles away however. But my sister's car has been hit and being a key worker (teacher), she'll need a car soon in the form of my Mundaneo, which means the M3 may well come out to play if she can't get a hire car (or want one for that matter).

Great reading about the M5 and that did look stunning on the M6 CP wheels!

The 944 looks great! The Turbo wheels are the Early Offset wheels, which are now quite tricky to get hold of. They look spot on!

I miss the M5!

Didn’t know that about the turbo wheels! They were on it when we got it. The original cookie cutters came with it to which is nice

If they are 16" wheels they are definitely Turbo wheels. I'd say they are the best design of teledials smile.
