Lancia Montecarlo...37 years and counting

I bet he liked it, subject to the brakes issue being sorted. Ace drivers like him probably like cars that are quite simple, have revvy engines, and good weight distribution. Thin (ish) tyres would probably add to the fun. I bet that he could get the car mega sideways but in a totally relaxed and safe way.
I love that bit in "Rush" when Lauda drives the road car that he hitches a lift in after his future wife's badly maintained car has conked out. He drives slowly at first, until his future wife asks him to go fast, and then the F1 fans sitting in the back go nuts with joy.

Yes love that bit in Rush, and the bit where he blags a lift to a party in Clay Reggazoni's Dino 308GT4. I noticed that in the end credits, there is no mention of the actor who played Regazzoni's 'tache.I love that bit in "Rush" when Lauda drives the road car that he hitches a lift in after his future wife's badly maintained car has conked out. Wow.
Does it get out much ?
Looks the business.
Must be super rare.
Back then (98 maybe?) it was my daily driver, our only car. Nowadays it’s saved for nice days, I try to use it a couple of times a week in the summer, weather and circumstance permitting. Hasn’t been on the road yet this year though. Does it get out much ?

They built around 284, believe there’s about 18 in the UK just now. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it.
Seconded! A thread would be great. I think that I may once have seen one of these cars, long ago. What a cool car! Also, it's good to see several cool Montecarlos here as well as the OP's one. I am glad that there are some still blatting around and being looked after. There was a shiny black one living outdoors in Belsize Park a couple of year ago, owned by a cool young dude, but I have not seen it lately.

Weather Friday - Sunday this weekend looks pretty good
This is our Monte, at some point being renovated in the early 80s.
The car had a real chequered past, and at one stage was repatriated from the compound of a dealer who refused to return it.
Later, it was written off in Leeds, but appears to still exist.
It was a white coupe with red interior, registered as 211FMX, which is now showing as blue.
As with any previously owned cars, I’d be interested in buying it back!

There is a slightly bonkers 1960s case about a bloke who was done for stealing his own car when he went and grabbed it from a garage. He hadn't yet paid the bill for the repairs on the car, so the garage had a possessory interest in the car..The car had a real chequered past, and at one stage was repatriated from the compound of a dealer who refused to return it.

I only want to buy back some of my old cars. Others I want to pay to have set on fire.

With my huge pair of rose-tinted Raybans, I’d buy anything back. Maybe not the MG Metro Turbo, but who knows? I only want to buy back some of my old cars. Others I want to pay to have set on fire.

Blimey I bought an MG Metro for my then wife.
What a disaster that was.
The car performed for about a week then threw a hissy fit and blew a gasket.
My relationship with it went south and it was sold on for scrap probably.
I would buy back any and all of my 911 cars and strangely enough an old original style RAV4 we had when we lived in Macau.
All the rest - about 30 - I think I would set on fire too.
