Another Duster

Here is my '22 Prestige 4wd. Extras are a spare wheel, sidesteps (my mother is 92), tow-bar and the colour. Went for a fixed tow-bar to help protect the rear. Just missed out on the chance to change to an Extreme SE, my order had gone to the factory the week before.
You're only really missing the orange accents, which I'm not sure would work that well on an already orange car anyway. seiben said:
I'd like to see a Duster on Grids purely because it sounds bonkers
Although if it was mine I'd go for steels.
I've been looking and it's either very basic steels from the likes of my tyres or oponeo which I'm not that keen on. There's a decent set of Duster steels on fb but the seller is asking £200.Although if it was mine I'd go for steels.
Quite like the Dotz Dakar wheels but they're about £500 or only £100 cheaper than the Rotas.
Went to collect my newly refurbished winter wheels today.
Cross Climates squeezed into the boot ready to go on.
Arrived and they've refitted the completely knackered rubber I asked them not to despite me asking and reiterating when he didn't write it down.
Asked to swap them over and he initially refused on the grounds his tyre machine will damage the new finish taking them off so we just kind of looked at each other as I said they wouldn't fit in the car anyway now which seemed to spur him on to have a go at changing them.
God knows what they'll look like but they're apparently done. Michelin CC's are directional so I'm expecting them to have fitted them all the same way round, you feel a bit of a bellend telling someone who must fit tyres everyday which way round they go but I've zero faith they'll get it right.
Fingers crossed, I pick them up tomorrow.

They really are nice looking cars. These are on my list when my Q5 lease goes back so real world feedback is welcome.
4wd is handy for me as is the ability to abuse the car a bit. I've missed the latter with the Audi.
1Would I be better with a Duster or an approved used derv CRV, RAV4 for £15k? Basic servicing I can do on those myself once warranty out.
Would be a 2016 with 60000m at that price.
I do 15000m year, some light towing. Up and down farm and forest tracks
Dusters don't seem to be the bargain that they once were plus sadly my local dealer is Arnold Clark which is quite off putting.
Thanks and as I said I actually find them a very attractive car.
The new vs used argument is impossible to answer.
Up until now I'd always gone used and if you can DIY it's almost impossible to rationally argue for buying brand new.
That said apart from being a bit overly precious and worrying a bit when I leave it somewhere more vulnerable I'm really enjoying having a new car.
Countered by the fact I'll lose more in depreciation in 2 years than I've lost in all my cars put together in the last 20 years of car ownership.
If you'd bought a new Discovery for 20k over list you'll probably lose more than a whole Duster in depreciation next year alone so it's not all bad.

I did both! Duster when they were a bargain and my New Defender was ordered with a fixed price for £15k less than they were the day it was delivered. Question is should I sell the Defender and cash in or plan B (preferred option) keep for a couple of years and sell for what I paid. Either way I don’t care they are both fabulous cars. Done 38k miles since Jan 2021 in the Dacia and it saves me £120 per week against what it replaced. Went to fit my winter wheels today only to find out i'd inadvertently ordered M12 x 1.25 instead of M12 x 1.5 despite googling the latter.
My own fault for not double checking and I can atleast return them less the postage cost, annoying oversight though.
I spent the time tarting up the Mitsi centre caps. Good from far, far from good.

There's a lot to be said for low-faff. Although these only cost me £100 more than a decent set of used Dacia Steels, including the refurb.
Success.
Used the opportunity to get all the bits I missed in the arches with Bilt Hamber UC and ACF50. Hubs were very orange, which you'll have to imagine but they cleaned up OK.
Summer wheels came off pretty much unmarked after 5000 miles. Cleaned and ceramic coated ready for spring.

White is certainly an interesting choice for a winter wheel, they won't stay that way for long. Car looks great though, have to say i've been tempted by one of these for some time now but had a test drive of a 2015 model and the seating/steering/pedal position didn't seem to work for me personally, but i'm extremely picky about that and not many cars do seem to suit me well in that way.

Dusty pads.
Think some low dust pads are in the near future. Probably EBC Greenstuff, not a great pad IMO but they produce hardly any dust and should be atleast comparable with the OEM ones performance wise.
I recall Euro Car Parts advertising some low/no dust Brembo pads not too long ago. Might be worth a look.Dusty pads.
