Kurt’s Car

Kurt’s Money

Kurt’s Choice!!

Unfortunately not everyone is in the priveladged position where they can own something exotic, fast or generally accepted on PH.
And to that point I see no problem in somebody like Kurt doing what they’re doing to THEIR car. The subtle changes he’s made so far are hardly offensive now are they? And most of all they give him a sense of pride in the ownership in his car and that is what it’s all about once everything is said and done, regardless of whatever car it may be.

It’s easy for someone who has `Been there, done that’ to pipe up and say `Don’t do it, trust me on this one I’ve been there and done it and it is really not worth it’ ... That may be the case but the fact is is that you have done it and I bet my ass that at the time you loved it and loved your car even more so because of it.
Don’t knock someone and try to suppress them because you believe you know better, let them do as they see fit right now, Enjoy what they have and learn from the mistakes they make.

I've been watching this thread over the months, and although I don't like the modifications you've done, I say fair play to you. I think your decent attitude has saved you from being mauled to pieces by the PH anti-halfords brigade.

My new car is a '94 Civic 1.6 esi which has been lowered (before I bought it!!), and I can't even get out the courtyard where I live within scraping it! Speedbumps have to be taken at 0.1mph with one wheel on, one wheel off and slightly sideways. Eurgh I hate it, my standard Puma handled much better. I hope yours isn't this low!!

So what happened to the Puma then?

The guy changing the cambelt didn't do it properly and ruined the engine. He's now buying it off me.

Cheers airsafari87 & Lucie W.

Lucie, no mines not that low. Not even close. I've had a car full of 5 and got up curbs etc with no problem. Looking at it you probably wouldnt even notice its been lowered.

hehe Im not so sure. Had a chat with my old man and hes the same as me, dont think it'll work and even if it does, first time it has a wash/rains it'll come straight off.

And i'll look mental!

You'd just need some half decent adhesive, it'd be easy enough i reckon. It would look a bit crackers, yes, but surely that's the point?!

It seems like a lot of people agree with me. If my wheels were as flat faced as yours I'd probably try it, but alas I'm rolling on 14" steelies that would not be ideal.

rofl Awesome idea biggrin Actually don't mind the look of the car, at least you can change most of the mods back easily when the time comes to sell. I'm still in the camp of 'keep it standard and save for your next car though', which is what I've done....although I haven't reached the next car yet hehe
Me too. I never understood why people wasted money on mods for slow cars. I know some people who have wasted a good DC2 worth of cash on their corsa's and saxo's

I had a bump this weekend sadly. I wont go into much detail or try defend myself as it was strictly speeking my fault.

Following the girlfriends mum in her Civic on some country roads we were coming up to a brow of a hill the car infront of her started breaking hard (unknown why, guess something was on the otherside of the hill). So the missus mother in her civic starts breaking hard too. We were going about 60mph, i was keeping reasonable distance from her. She hit the breaks and i did as fast as i could. But it wasnt enough, my breaks are poop compared to her new Civics. I went into the back of the car at about 15-20mph closing speed.

The damage to her car was... nothing. A little scratch. That was it. So im really relieved at that. I'd hate to be the blame for any damage. But my car was a little different. My bonnet it bent so its stumpy and has left me with big panel gaps. The grill and badge fell off, no problem as i have my old one to put back on. And the front bumper is misshaped as its been pushed against some sort of crash bar behind it. Oh well, its all a learning curve.

Oh and to top it off, i need the head gasket doing. Bugger!

Unrelated but i started wrapping my bike in this camo now too. Where will i stop! It needs something doing to it though as my plastics where fooked. Most are scratched or cracked but atleast this vinyl covers it all smile

as you can see, i still have more to do

Ouch, bit of a bugger that! Going through insurance? I daren't ask what it'll cost with the mods as my standard ZR is bad enough! Hope its back again, despite not liking the mods, (Or corsas at all for that matter hehe sorry!) It's your car and its never a good thing to hear!

No no, not a chance im going through the insurance. Tbh, if i wrote my car off id have to have a good think about going through the insurance. Insurance is bad enough without even making a claim.

Here's the damage anyway, as you can see, nothing bad. Bonnet it out of shape leaving them panel gaps, tow eye cover is off, but i have it to stick back on, grill just needs glueing back on and then theres two box shapes coming from underneith the bumper. The crash bar i guess? You can sort of see it on the photo
