Yeah, it's sad but I need something I can trust. I am sure the car will be fine, its booked in for a new PLCD sensor next week, and I know it'll fix it. The next owner will be getting a pretty sorted M5 I reckon.
That’s probably true; it’ll end up being good as gold for them. It’s Sod’s law.

Hopefully it sells pretty quickly so you an move onto other things.

Do you really need a saloon?

I ran a Type-R for three+ years, I too love cars that suit your lifestyle down to the ground but how about a total change for a short period of time?

The likes of a GT86, MX5, S2000, Boxster or whatever can easily be bought at depreciation proof prices and be sold with only running costs at most lost a year later if you really don’t get in with them.

Or your budget will get you any of the more recent mega-hot-hatches. It’s easy to be sniffy about them when you’ve owned such complex machines but my aforementioned FK2 Type-R would keep up with anything on the road, most things on track and could carry the family to school or ten bags of building rubble to the top whenever we needed.

Running costs were nowt as well.
I'm not a fan of hot hatches (never owned one), estates or coupes. I've always had saloons, I just feel more comfortable in them.
Maybe now is the time to try something different? Instead of thinking of cars in segments, try thinking of them all as performance cars.

I've had as much fun in my hot hatches as I have my convertible sports cars as my lightweight specials.

In no particular order my favourite cars to own have been my Megane R.26R, M3 CSL, Toyota MR2 Spyder, 993 Carrara RS-a-like and Civic Type-R.

All different, all great.

How about a Bentley Flying Spur?? Looks like £20k is the starting point for a good one.

With your luck you should sell out and buy 20x sheds. That'll be just enough cars to keep you going until Christmas laugh

I'll take "what cars are more ruinous to run than a BMW M5" for ten please.

Mr Dog isn't a Jag man but my that's lovely, fairly rare as well.

One of the team I am on is 27 and has a diesel version, there me at 50 with a Fiesta ST, role reversal.

Watch the Jayemm video on the F10, he was a little nonplussed by it, though a lot did say the one he tested was perhaps poorly.

Sorry to hear of the contiued issues, my E63 M6 in contrast barely put a foot wrong under my ownership.

Without trying to be rude, the majority of this thread has been selling the car, what to buy and then not selling... Get it sold and move on.
I've had a love hate relationship with the car. It's annoying for me as it for everyone reading. I really like the car, but a change is really due.

Yeah, though I'd like to think it is one of its selling points! Hopefully!

I'm not a huge FWD fan, and I don'k like the FK7 if I am being honest. I like big saloons as they just suit me better. I won't rule a hot hatch out though.

I dislike that style of XJ something chronic. The X358 is the last one I like, but as J4cko says below, I aren't really a Jag man.

That F10 was definitely poorly. It's hard to see how it couldn't have been!

F10's don't feel that special, no real sense of occasion when driving.
Very quick but not exciting. I reckon you would get board of one in no time at all.

Not a bad suggestion. Only 0.6 secs slower over the 1/4 mile than the E60 M5.

Add a couple of K&N replacement filters (to keep the warranty intact) & you improve the throttle response.

These are very popular in the US with maps taking these to 430ish bhp & imo they're a set of wheels from being a looker.

Surely the next step after a V10 is a ... V12?

AM DB7 ... https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/10871256

But since you like saloons, how about V12 bi-turbo? https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11328236

Spend a couple of grand on a Fiesta ST and use that whenever the M5 is in convalescence. You'll either get bored of the M5 and realise you can have fun in something smaller and more engaging (and sell the M5). Or you'll not miss the M5 as much when it's being repaired/upgraded.

Saw a bright yellow one parked up just round the corner from my house the other day. First one I’ve seen in the flesh up close and stationary. Some subtle mods (splitter. Rear defuser and lip spoiler, not an expert in theses cars so may be standard but didn’t look it).

Had me looking in AT, nice bright orange one on there (nearly new). Yep, very nice.

Must be the same one. I followed it down the A46 in to Newark. Parked up in town and I saw it there for a close look. Really nice car. Sorry op for sidetracking your thread.

I like the Stinger, but I couldn't have one as just an only car. It's more a daily than something more interesting to me.

The car is home! New plcd sensor and new SMG relays.

Going on a 200 mile drive later!
