mucacho what tyres and size are the winters? I need two new fronts soon and like the look of those. Would obviously get 4.
Hi Mike. They are Insa Turbo Rangers in the standard size of 215 65 16. They are tyres that carry the 3 Peak Snowflake symbol so are rated as proper winter tyres however the tread is very much biased towards mud. I would always prefer proper winter tyres if I was doing mostly road work but in this case mud and wet grass are likely to be the bigger challenge on the farm. Also they have taken the sharpness out of the car’s handling so I would advise against them unless you really need them! They will be effective for me over the winter but I will look forward to going back to the EcoContacts come spring.
was interesting to read that as looking for a new tyre, I think eco contacts are awful, especially in the wet or slippery rural autumn roads, they feel almost dangerous when there is lots of standing water! Been thinking about an all season tyre that is good for poor roads but not sure what to choose. Safety and grip are far more important than eco or noise around here
Not a Duster but our Octavia Scout's Michelin Alpin tyres are good in bad weather. Driving in Herefordshire the other day was like driving through an intermittent lake, the standing water was awful but the car felt very secure.

General Dacia question...is it actually possible to order one online and have it delivered?

The Dacia online ordering thing has no stock whatsoever, and I can't find a dealer/broker/website that allows you to order without either a phone call or visit.

I had a horrible experience with my last car. £9k car, sat down and they pushed a piece of paper with £13k on it with an entirely straight face, spent 45 minutes of them going back and forth to 'the manager' to finally get it down to the listed price by removing tyre insurance and all the other crap.

Don't really fancy that again, just want to order a new car at list!

I don't think there is much stock of anything anywhere. I used Car Wow to agree a price, much less hassle. Dacia Barnsley were ok if its any help. Still having to wait several months for delivery.

Try carwow was good at making all the offers fairly transparent and can be done on the phone.

You wont get much off a new Dacia but I got about a grand off a new one which is better than paying more than rrp for a 2 year old one....

Won't get one before new reg is out though.

I'm not worried about getting a discount, just wanted to order a new one as easily as possible and wait it out, rather than pay above list for a used one as seems to be the only other option at the moment.

My nearest dealership is selling both used Dusters and Stepways above new price so I'm not going to bother with them!

Dacia Watford are listing new models at £3-4k under list and claiming they are in stock for delivery. Both complete rubbish, no idea how they get away with it.

Well something broke on it today. Got in and set heater to hot (it was cold) then when I turned the fan on nothing happened. The fan switch has died on all but the maximum setting which is loud enough to wake the dead.
Popped into dealer on the way home. Car booked in for 06/12 to have this fixed and the vinyl between the doors replaced as that’s been badly fitted at the factory and is damaged from new. Dealer giving me a courtesy car for as long as it takes.

Is it the heater motor resistor by any chance? Happened on a previous car of mine

Wow. By coincidence that’s exactly what a I think has happened to mine today. I only really noticed it as I got home so will have a better look tomorrow.

Typical of a failed fan resistor isn't it? Max fan is usually bypassing it.

When it happened (or didn’t) I had one of those moments where I thought didn’t this problem afflict Renaults of the past…….and then I remembered where the switches came from. As for resistors I’ll leave that up to the dealer.

Mine is booked in for 10 days time. They said they'd have it for 2 days, one to diagnose it and the second to fit the replacement part. Courtesy Sandero being provided for the 2 days. Second time it will have been to the Dealer for warranty work after my DAB screen locked but I've got to say they have been super efficient so far.

I’ve got issues with the vinyl stickers that are between the front and rear side windows. It was fitted poorly (creased) at the factory and has split and cracked. They are going to do both jobs at the same time so are giving me a courtesy car for as long as it takes 2/5 days possible. New Sandero would be nice but beggars etc.

Throbbing update from me, we've just returned from a trip to Majorca and it looks like the police car of choice is indeed also of the throbbing variety in poverty spec. On return the car started on the button and we've passed the 5000 mile mark now which seems somehow to have released some extra horses . . . .

Good to have you back Oppo. My fan only working on max is a right pain on a freezing wet day. Trying to keep warm and the windows not misted up is hard work.
Driving home yesterday a couple of idiots in a car in front were pointing a laser pen into the eyes of oncoming drivers.

Using the hands free I called 101 and 10 minutes later I was still following when the Police pulled them over. I didn’t go out of my way I was just coincidentally going the same way. Was nice to see them get stopped though bloody idiots.

Good news, the dealer has a build slot for me now with an allotted chassis number and reckons end of Nov, early Dec is still no the cards. I wish there was some way to track the build on line.
Blimey, sound just like buying a 911!
Honestly! I never thought trying to give a business over £13k of my money would be so gruelling.
Slightly less good news! Ordered mid-September, Throbber delivery has now been pushed back to the week before Xmas now. I'm bracing myself for not seeing it this side of New Year.

I know they are quoting 6 months for the Sandero, is this not the case with the Duster?

I think it depends on the dealer. When I was shopping round in September, delivery times ranged from 3 to 7 months for no obvious reason. I don't know why or how different dealers have shorter delivery times than others. My car wasn't an existing order in the system, it was new factory build and I was originally told end of Nov.

Porkie pies to get you to order with them and then worry about it later on when you are several months in and committed? I thought Dacia had a thing where they update you every two week with the current order situation?

Must either be a Motability return or a finance repossession, otherwise it's very odd for that to be going through so soon.
