Dacia Duster, 999cc of Throbbing Fun
Discussion
I dont find it that surprising. It is I will admit, a relatively rare opportunity.
They had a silver 70 plate Comfort a few months ago that sold well with less than 600 miles.
BCA are selling 100 nearly new vehicles this week alone. The total volume of sales is down as cars are in short supply.
Stock levels are usually over 22,000. They are less than 16,000 at the moment.
Sometimes they sell brand new vehicles. I remember when Peugeot offloaded loads and loads of new 407 Coupes at the end on production.
My wife's E class had 1,500 miles on the clock when I bought it from BCA, New £65k. 12 months old £27k.
As you say it could be Motability however there are many reasons why they come up for sale so early. Usually nothing to do with the car.
This car is basically new. I haven't even looked what the retail price is, or what the wait would be.
Looks lovely to me. The warranty is transferable to the new owner.

I think it depends on the dealer. When I was shopping round in September, delivery times ranged from 3 to 7 months for no obvious reason. I don't know why or how different dealers have shorter delivery times than others. My car wasn't an existing order in the system, it was new factory build and I was originally told end of Nov.
Porkie pies to get you to order with them and then worry about it later on when you are several months in and committed? I thought Dacia had a thing where they update you every two week with the current order situation?renmure said:

When it happened (or didn’t) I had one of those moments where I thought didn’t this problem afflict Renaults of the past…….and then I remembered where the switches came from. As for resistors I’ll leave that up to the dealer.
Mine is booked in for 10 days time. They said they'd have it for 2 days, one to diagnose it and the second to fit the replacement part. Courtesy Sandero being provided for the 2 days. Second time it will have been to the Dealer for warranty work after my DAB screen locked but I've got to say they have been super efficient so far.We should Mike.
They haven't exactly phoned me up and given me a bundle of cash (unfortunately).
I love my Duster. It is really the only bit of sensibleness in a mad world.
The connoisseurs choice. The best choice for many reasons. I would do it all again tomorrow.
Just seen your pic request Mike (On the subject of XK120s). This is where I am. I have my eyes on some better seats.
Just put the the dash together. Engine and box in before Christmas. Loom here. Wheels and tyres sorted (16 inch Dunlop Steels).
4 speed all synchro E type gearbox with 2.88 power-locker rear end.
AP Racing brakes with Monte-Carlo calipers. Adventures Ahead. Duster support vehicle of course.

Mines now sold. Didn’t make anything on it in 5yrs but didn’t lose either (well not much). Lovely old thing gone on to its new adventure. New Defender on order, D250 110 MHEV X Dynamic S in triple black. I have though specifically ordered 19” wheels to give plenty of tyre. I plan on keeping the Defender for ever…..and of course a Duster.

Great looking car Mike.
Saw this yesterday, Duster v Audi on Carwow.

Pretty pointless competition. I dont think I could stomach the embarrassment of driving around in an RSQ8!
Entertaining non the less!
My Duster is still performing superbly.
It got borrowed by members of the family in the shooting set last week whilst thier complicated German car went off for a new electric water pump at 18 months old. So it was rubbing shoulder with 2 tonne beasts at various locations in the UK all week long, clocking up 1,000 miles in 4 days.
It was returned yesterday, all were very impressed by unexpected speediness, utility, quietness, comfort levels and general drive. Another hit I think.

I can’t imagine that their margin will be much. They gave me just shy of 22 for it. Keep an eye out.
Spotted your Jimny on Cazoo yesterday, went to take a screenshot but it's already gone! £24,750 it was on for, imperfections were windscreen chips, scratches above the drivers door and a chip in the rear quarter I think. How to increase the sex appeal of a Duster without making it more expensive!
One of my design partners came up with this idea for the essential spec model at lunchtime. I quite liked it.
Bi fuel steelies £0, wheel arch extensions £40 and a couple of graphics £10, thats it.
Shouldn't affect the price too much!
NATO spec.

Spent too long procrastinating and now back on the market for a Duster, prices have shot up again! Compared to 2 months ago used stock is pretty much non existent at the moment. On the online sites such as Cinch and Cazoo stuff is getting reserved within hours, particuarly petrol models with the smaller engines (quite a few 1.6s knocking about).
I budgeted about £11k back in the summer and anything comparable is basically about £13k and above now, and that's used! I guess the waiting lists for new stock is pushing used prices ever higher, the difference between new and used is negligible in many cases now.

Or in some cases about £2k more than list - Renault Hanley have a silver Essential up for £16,500!I budgeted about £11k back in the summer and anything comparable is basically about £13k and above now, and that's used! It’s happening with every manufacturer. My Defender order started out at £58k then went to £62k as they put the prices up whilst I procrastinated. The stupid salesperson didn’t notify me about the increase. This made me annoyed and I didn’t order as I was pissed off. I then went in to order the car built from an S spec with the extras I wanted on it……guess what?
Yep they slimmed the range down to try and get as many cars built and my spec car then was £64k!
I went to another dealer and got the order placed with a handy 4% discount. Used 4 cyl Defenders are currently selling for £10-£15k over list at 12 months old. If I’m offered stupid money it will be sold shortly after delivery.
