had two X300 XJR's and felt empty after selling the last one......so recently took the plunge on a 99 XJR for peanuts.....its going to have a few fixes no doubt but I feel better already just knowing its on the drive way....last of their kind
Good work! I am missing my XJR and currently have no Jaguars at all! Need to get that sorted.Go for the Powerhouse lower pulley - well worth it.

I know the experience of selling a car you know you should have kept....too many timesGo for the Powerhouse lower pulley - well worth it.
Ecosse....you really should not have sold that one
''This one is going to be my last one no matter what I have to do to it'' (famous last words!)
Considering I got her a month ago on a blind EBay buy and haven't actually seen it in the metal yet then that's a pretty tall statement
but it was sooooooo! cheap for what it looks like I can near put a whole moving parts recon drivetrain and suspension in it and it will still be value for money....according to petrol head logic anyway.
needs headlining and front seats are nasty tho but can be recolored and fortunately not holed....rears are near perfect as usual with these.
the engine numbers say its a 2nd gen tensioner car if the 3rd gen job hasn't been done and given its a late 99 car it shouldn't have a nikasil prob.
my only problem is that the previous keeper has not sent in the V5 and didn't put the new keepers bit in the car....both lost in the post?....pony and trap!.....but he will get the DVLA fine in due course
so given that Ive applied for a new V5 which could take between 4 and 6 weeks to process....which means I cant drive, tax, or even SORN the car till the V5 is in my hands....worst of all, when I do get home on a couple of weeks leave I will just have to look at it in my garage if the V5 doesn't turn up in time.
the V10XJR reg will get a few quid for what ever fixes it needs....not worth that much until Jag actually develop a V10 for an XJR (or someone drops a dodge viper lump in one) at which point it will be priceless....
But all in all im over the moon and happy to be back in an XJR seat looking over that sweeping X308 dashboard line that was such a huge improvement over the X300....It was the biggest reason to buy it....However its a Jag....No doubt I will be looking over that sweeping dash while the car is silent and motionless due to whatever glitch randomly pops up on any particular day...hahaha
pics are only EBay jobbies but from the look of it and a friends opinion who's seen it...in his words "Its a lot of car for the money"....winning bid £1220 Plus £25 for V5 minus £650 quoted for the plate
cost of car £ 595

Now that looks delicious, with headlight washers too! And the rare cupholders
Hopefully the V5 won't take long. I had to do send for a replacement once and it took a couple of weeks IIRC.
Damn, wish I'd kept mine now! I did drive it a couple of months ago, as I sold it back to the previous owner.
New headlining is around £150. See how you get on with seats - may be easier swapping them for a replacement set on ebay as they seem to be cheap.

yea ive seen some deals on headlinings for that money....but will see how the seat leather is before I think about replacing them with other used ones.....ive done a lot of leather seat restoration over the years and have re 'newed' worse than these look like
But Im holding my breath on whats really wrong with it until I get home at the end of feb.....will let you all know if its the deal of the decade or a parts donor

yea I remember when you simply went into the posties with your insurance and MOT, filled out the form, and that was it....but thanks to the new rules the gov pockets a load of doh for part months that both seller and buyer lose, and this $hit can happen with not having a V5.....
Now as a result of the seller lying about sending the V5 to DVLA and lying about sending the new keepers bit to me (seems they were both lost in the post) I'm having to put off going home to UK til I can be sure I've got a V5 to tax it with...they say 4-6 weeks.....4 weeks if no problems and 6 if the previous keeper doesn't respond to their enquiries that he's sold it....considering he's not bothered to send the original V5 back I'm not hopeful
But I HPI'd it and at least its not coming up as dodgy.....ah well....fingers crossed

So, 7 years ago I bought the car in the OP, and 5 years ago I sold it back to the person I bought it from, who had owned it almost from new.
Today, I have just bought I back.
What a spectacular machine! It’s had lots of work done which I will update on in due course, but for now I am just going to drive it.

So, over a year into my second ownership of this car and it’s been great. So lovely to drive, and I think its looks improve every year when compared to modern cars.
As a recap, the car has been very well looked after and has had the usual work done like new chains and tensioners, and also upgrades like the Powerhouse lower pulley and a stainless exhaust. It has also had a full body restoration about 4 years ago with new panels and a full respray etc.
Inside the headlining has been replaced with black alcantara and looks great, and it has upgraded speakers and a discreet Bluetooth system. Also, numerous other touches over the years such as the US spec side lights etc.
I’ve only done about 1,500 miles since I bought it again and it has been great. A small bit of welding for the MOT, but otherwise faultless. I’m definitely holding onto it this time!
Here are a few pics from when I took it to the Jim Clark museum, and very nice drive and an enjoyable day. Seems a lifetime ago in these COVID times!
