I take it from the pictures that slicks aren't allowed in the series you'll be racing in?
Yep, the majority of club tin top racing is on treaded tyres, either free choice off the listed options in the blue book or some championships run a control tyre that you have to use.One of the reasons for using a "road" tyre for club stuff is to open up the possibility that you might make a set last more than one race weekend or at very least more than one session as they tend not to have the same degree of drop-off as slicks after their first use.
In our case MSVT SuperCup is still the likely option for the 21 season and they run Yoko A052s. I used to race on A048s on my Peugeot and liked them but haven’t tried these yet. They are supposed to be pretty good, all I know so far is how much they cost .

Thanks! Still a long way to go .
My credit card and bank balance have taken a pounding this week but I can pick the car up tomorrow and there are a lot of early Christmas presents heading my way .
Today I have been elsewhere seeing how the other half race
What a beast. I can imagine how the board meeting went at Bentley that day.My credit card and bank balance have taken a pounding this week but I can pick the car up tomorrow and there are a lot of early Christmas presents heading my way .

"Ok so we are going to turn the continental into a gt race car"

I've run them (A052RS) on my GT86 trackday car this year, a couple of people I know have used them on race cars and we all tell a similar story. Up to a point they're good - surprisingly good in the wet I've found (subject to tread depth of course) but they have a bit of a tendency to 'cliff edge' and lose grip all of a sudden when hot. One corner you'll have good traction on the exit, the next there's a bit of wheelspin and a lap later you're struggling.
If I were racing on them I'd get a good session in testing and note how many laps it takes them to go, then try ways of prolonging their life to the end of the race distance asit seems once they've 'gone' it's almost impossible to get them back without coming in to the pits.

Interesting. We’ll be doing 45 minute races so that’s something to watch out for. Plenty of testing planned in the new year so I can find out uow they do on a run. So the pic above was just because it looks so nice to finally have a full set of bodywork
Meanwhile Santa’s little elves have been busy and this has arrived...........
Tractive Suspension was formed by a group of Ohlins staff and make top end systems for all sorts of road and track cars.
Via in introduction from Chris at Center Gravity they have come onboard to help support IM Racing so we will be running their three way adjustable GT4 setup on the car .
Add some Elephant Racing arms to get the geo pointing in the right directions and we should have some very acceptable handling

Well SWMBO insisted I stay in on xmas day but I’ve been in the workshop working on our toy every other day so far There’s loads of fiddly detail stuff that is taking ages, extinguisher, battery kill, door cards, bonnet pins etc are all eating up the hours but I’m getting down the list slow but sure.
I’ll do a proper update post with photos but one in the meantime, the suspension is now fitted so we can see it on it’s wheels for the first time...........
