Hi Dan, excellent attention to detail and effort keeping the barge clean!

How are your bulbs, have they burnt in now? OEM (for my car at least) is 4300k, I see you went for 6000k, are you happy with the light output?

I need to get some xenon bulbs and remembered you rated Lunex highly, just after some trusted feedback before I buy.

Hi pal

They're absolutely fine and working very well. Whiter than OEM but not stupidly white if that makes sense?

I'd highly recommend Lunex and it's worth getting 2 sets as you never know when you may need a spare!

Faffy job though as its bumper off and squeezing your hand into tight spaces to get the headlight out rolleyes

IT used to be that xenons (halogen bulbs too) took an initial period of working to 'burn in' but unsure if that's still the case

Either way; the Lunex xenons are very good and I'd highly recommend them over the x3 price Osrams personally... I've used the Lunex and Osram bulbs in many cars; I like to save £££ now and not pay through the nose etc

I never had to replace a headlight bulb on my F01, I did change the angel eyes for LED items but that was it.

Amazed that the bumper has to come off to change the headlight bulb.

I have a F06 640d Gran Coupe and you just put the wheels on full lock, remove 2 torx screws from an inspection flap and you have immediate access.

I went for D1S LED bulbs which are very bright indeed in 6000k temperature, they have little fans in them to stop them overheating, I'm very happy with them so far. I did buy a set of Osram D1S Bi-Xenon as back up in case of failure etc.

I do like my 640d, but miss my 7 series.

Cheers pal, I’ll get them ordered. Thankfully on the Focus it’s a headlamp out job which makes things a little easier but still not great! Bumper off job to change a headlamp bulb is madness.

The internet is a mostly helpful resource but it does contain lots of conflicting information. I was under the impression that bulbs needed to be used between 10-100 hours (depending on what you read) before they reach their peak brightness and remain so until they near end of life.

I might be wrong, my information may be outdated but it sounds like Dan is happy with his Lunex bulbs so I’ll give them a go.

IIRC the F01 doesn't have those inspection flaps; might be wrong but my bumper was off when I swapped mine over (it was in the body shop) and there's metalwork in the way of the xenon hatch, so it's a headlight out job no matter what

Thank you. Yes, I found conflicting information but it would go some way to explaining why I'm not rating the xenon bulb I replaced.

All done & dusted though; just need to bed them in now really

Cheers

Yes when I was looking at various OEM 19s these were top of my list.

Bloody lucky to have found them locally from a seller that wanted rid of them as he'd sold his previous F10 as he'd just bought an M3!

The colours superb too, much better in the flesh
