Dacia Duster, 999cc of Throbbing Fun
Discussion
Irksome problem with my Duster of late. The rear parking sensors will sometimes sound a constant beep even though there is nothing behind me.
It's an intermittent fault that the dealer was unable to replicate today, so it's going back some time in January so they can have it for a few days and another stab at it.
Other than that, running perfectly well at just over 6,000 miles since I purchased it in September and very happy with my purchase.

Came back to it today, a woman in the car park comes rushing over and hisses 'shes just driven into your car' pointing at the X5
Inspect both cars, BMW has loads fresh expensive damage on the NSR bumper and gouges wheel arch extension.
Impressed that Duster just has small chip on the bumper, and a couple marks that'll rub off I really couldn't be bothered to make a fuss.

Bad form to quote myself, but that's my Duster back from the Dealer today after getting the heater blower fixed. All done in the one day. The Service guy said they just ordered a new resistor unit on the basis of my description when booking it in so it didn't take long.
Worse form to quote myself again but that's me back from the Dealer today after my heater blower failed for a second time just after Christmas, so 6 weeks after it was last replaced under Warranty. Dealer was fine, courtesy car this time was a new duel fuel Duster, but having now had the car 9 months and had it back to the Dealer 3 times now I'd certainly give thoughts to extending the Warranty if possible.Mikebentley said:
renmure been following your Lancia thread. My fan switch went on my Duster at 15 months old. It’s a known fault with the old Renault tech and appears to be an ongoing issue for our cars.
Ah, that old Stratos heap. You can see the need for something sensible in the background and where "Dusty" fits in to that Yeah, I appreciate the fan thing is a known fault but wonder what it would cost to fix each if it was out of warranty.
A shame about the resistor thing marring an otherwise good car. You'd have thought a well known failure point would already have been resolved.
I notice James Glanville on the Dacia Duster forum has found a way of replacing it on a RHD model without removing the dash.
Gives us all hope.

I’ll ask my Dacia service guy to quote for the resistor fix so we have some idea. I did notice near Dudley there is an independent Dacia/ Renault place.
I like some of the specialists. Often they have quicker more efficient fixes and staff ex main dealer anyway. Poking around the forums the problem seems to overheating. Some owners are reccomending running the fan speed on 2 rather than 1. Less thermal load and greater airflow apparently.
The fateful day has finally arrived. I picked up my brand new TCe100 bi-fuel Essential this morning. 11 miles showing. Immediately hopped on the M6 and drove it 50 miles home. Very happy with it. The little motor has more than adequate power. Haven't tried it on gas yet, the tank came totally empty.

I have found just 1 negative that I’m not liking at this stage. The Essential has no seat height adjustment and fixed the position is really a bit too high for me, my head is very close to the roof and I feel like I am ducking a bit (I’m not I don’t think) to see under the windscreen header rail. The car I test drove had seat height adjustment so I never noticed. If you are under 6ft it’s probably not an issue, but tall drivers should try before they buy.
One thing that never bothered me for a single second, the interior plastics. They look ok and as you never actually touch them the fact they aren’t slush moulded from unicorn down doesn’t matter. Don’t believe the crap that car mags tell you. The only place you might have call to complain is the interior door releases, they feel a bit bendy,.
To cover some stuff mentioned earlier in the thread. The 2022 facelift Essential does indeed have cruise control as standard and there is no switch to activate it down by the handbrake. All done on the wheel. The LPG system is now fully integrated in the dash display, with a proper fitted button to switch from unleaded to gas.
I’m pondering weather to remove the Continental Eco Contacts, sell them get some all-seasons fitted, or get a 2nd set of wheels with winters in. I usually do the latter, but there are some excellent all-seasons available these days.
Very nice blueST. It’s nice to have a fellow LPG throbber on here. My mileage is slightly over 24k now and I have had it 1yr and 2 weeks. I’m envious of your more integrated larger LPG system too.
I think in total I have only used slightly over 1 tank of unleaded in 12 months.
I quite liked the original Continentals and the fronts lasted 22k with a little tread left I found them very predictable and stood up to a lot of abuse. I’m trying some second hand Continental M&S on the front at the moment and they have a much more aggressive tread but they do spin up and slip a little more. This might be down to being a little old and that ultimately ice is ice.
Your car looks great.

Congrats, that is a very nice looking car indeed. Like the steel wheels on yours better than mine.
Hope you get a reliable LPG supplier, although running it on petrol is not exactly terrible.
I think you will get on fine with the tyres it came with. Some ATs could be fun though.
24k Mike! how many oil changes? 1 or 2?
I did one at 9k, just to be nice to it. Cost £124 at Dacia.
Mine didnt use a drop and the oil that cam out was in good condition.
