Dacia Duster, 999cc of Throbbing Fun
Discussion
Just had my second puncture in 2 months. Was a nail in the front and now a screw in the back. Both unrepairable yet the Contis are only 8k miles old and have tons of tread.
Ugh! Another £110.
As to the new Essential owner above. Congrats but I'm puzzled at no seat height adjustment. My 2021 Essential has it.
I wish the passenger side did as well as my 6ft 6ins son is making the headlining greasy.

It definitely doesn’t, the Dacia online spec agrees too, so not an error. You need to step up to Comfort if you want such luxuries these days. They did quite a bit of fiddling with specs with the facelift models.
Wow! So not only is the Essential £3k more than I paid last Feb, it has less features. No wonder I was offered £1000 more than I paid for it a year ago in part exchange for another car.
I’ve had no punctures in 37 yrs of driving till I got the Duster. I have had 5 in the last 12 months because of the state of Black Country roads.
I initially went to back street tyre places and was surprised when they removed the object causing the puncture drilled the inflated tyre and then plugged it with a sticky folded piece of rubber that looked like liquorice using a T bar applicator. All this with the wheel still on the car. They then relieved me of £10.
I thought how hard can this be, went on EBay and purchased a kit in a pouch for £5.99. I have so far repaired 4 further punctures completely successfully and have enough kit to do 30 more. It took 5 minutes the first time.
The kit comes with everything you need.

From memory, I ordered end of September, or first week on Oct.
Ordered in Nov and had a expected date of March in a email a little while ago so sounds about on time.Could you not get a height adjustable seat out of a comfort and swap it? Will only be four bolts and a harness plug.

They might do, others will be able to confirm as mines still on a boat.
Might not be as bad as you think, only one on eBay but its under £200. Bet a breakers would have them cheaper...
Driving position is pretty important, just thought if it was bugging you likely not a super technical fix.

Fellow LPGers, I just nipped out to fill up with gas for the first time. £0.70p/l and it took 45 litres from close to empty. Be interesting to see what the economy is like.
The guy at the gas place was not amused with the adapter for the continental nozzle fitted to the car. He is a long-standing LPG installer, he said that the adapter has a weak point where the threaded portion is and he has seen them break off under the weight of the gun and hose resulting in LPG spraying everywhere He told me it's not legal to supply and fit a system with that type of connector and adapter in UK, so not sure how DACIA get away with it.
There was also a problem getting the filler hose off. I screwed the adapter into the car, but not really tight. He connected the hose and did the fill no problem, but because the adapter was turning on the thread couldn't get the hose off and had to employ some pipe grips to hold the adapter still. Any idea how to prevent this from happening next time? Should I screw the adapter in really tight?

I had a few teething problems when filling with LPG initially. For me, screwing in the adaptor pretty tight works and I use the nozzle to help unscrew it before removing. This makes it much easier. The guy at the gas place was not amused with the adapter for the continental nozzle fitted to the car. As for the adaptor itself, I don't like it. It's a faff. I wish they'd just fitted it with the correct hardware in the first place.
If I recall correctly, there is no law against using an adaptor. No idea about supplying a system which requires one, but you'd imagine Dacia's lawyers checked that out thoroughly surely.
Thanks, Think I need to try a self-service place next time so I can do it myself.
On another note, I have the handbook, but I don’t seem to have a service book or maintenance record, is that right?
How do I find what oil spec it needs? I presume there’ll be a Renault spec it needs to meet. The handbook just says to refer to maintenance docs, which I don’t have.

Service book is in the back of the manual. The oil type should have been supplied on the print out from the dealer (if you ask them for an ICM service schedule print they should know what you mean!)On another note, I have the handbook, but I don’t seem to have a service book or maintenance record, is that right?
