Sounds like a good way to fill my workshop with parts that will take forever to shift

Nobody's paying £30 for stripped shells any more either - be lucky not to need to pay to shift it
shells worthless, but get £30 with engine/box in it.

Engine collection has been delayed a bit but the tear down starts this week regardless.

Going to try to tidy up the engine bay in the process too - rewrapping wiring harnesses etc
Sorry, phone not playing ball.

Great job so far.

Spending anymore money on a Panda with 190k is insanity.

No amount of money can help that engine, it is buggered.

It's not a Volvo or BMW barge which can take 190k as being run in.
But that's sort of what makes it so fun to read - it makes no sense at all. Just a bit of a laugh and fun project.

There are so many people in the car world who are so serious and dreary, but Toaster Pilot and his Panda is the total opposite.

Is this thing breathing fire yet?

A Briggs and Stratton should be a good replacement engine.

Teardown in progress. Everything is disconnected and drained and the driveshafts are out so ready to lift the engine but ran out of time today

What engine is going back in Toastie? Another bog standard 1.1, or something more "powerful"?

Current plan is for a 1.1. If something else came up at sensible money I'd be open to it

Would a Punto Sporting ending fit? The 1.2 16v maybe?

Having 0 idea about engine availability, id try to find a punto 60 1.2 lump, there THE dead easy swap most cinquecento owners go for, considering you wont need to fiddle with electronics etc.. IIRC you can even just keep the 1.1 head and just put the 1.2 block underneath that

The 1.2 is slightly torquier, but the 1.1 ECU has a 500 RPM higher rev limit evil

Other lumps like 16vs will be more invasive

Anyone able to recommend a supplier of that plastic sleeving stuff for wiring looms? Preferably in a garish colour.

Original stuff is cracked and damaged in multiple places so I'm going to tidy it all up whilst there's room

Do you mean that corrugated tube stuff?

If so, try www.polevolt.co.uk

You might struggle with the garish colour though!
