Thanks for the tip! I had all the wheels balanced when I had the four wheel alignment done earlier this year, but it could well be the tyres themselves as the alignment was off beforehand. I can't say I've noticed the vibration particularly until recently so I'm wondering if a CV joint has gone, or maybe the centre bearing on the prop. I'll have to have a poke around under there.

Nothing particularly going on with the M at the moment. I've decided I'm going to refurb the prop anyway as we're at 150k miles, so here's what £122 looks like in exhaust parts:

That's 4x manifold to centre sections bolts and copper nuts, 2x gaskets between manifold and centre section and 2x clamps for centre section to backbox. The manifold to centre section bolts are random ones at the moment, and I know at least one of the clamps at the other end has seen better days, so I'll make my life easy and replace everything while I'm there.

I've got a new flex disc and centre bearing but went with decent aftermarket parts for those. No idea when I'll be able to get the prop off the car with all this snow hanging around, but when things get better and I have some free time, I'll be under the car!

Aha! I was wondering what had happened to this thread recently. Not a very inviting climate to be working on the car, I suppose.

Not particularly! I'll try to get out there and get the prop apart soon, it just depends how brave I'm feeling as it's really cold at the mo!

The only other news is the odo reads 150,002 biggrin Yay for big mileages

You can't talk! I've only just realised that you have a cheeky E38 thread and I've spent that last couple of night reading through it biggrin

Ouch. Road tax renewal this month, and I've just had my bank account drained of £580 for another year's driving pleasure. My friend's E46 M3 is cheap to tax in comparison, but mine's in the annoying 'post 2006' tax band. The tax band and the fact there's no manual dip stick are the only things that frustrate me slightly about this car. And both of them I can live with.

One thing I can't live with is the sticky rear brake caliper. I've already got rebuild kits and two litres of ATE Typ200 ready to go. The brake fluid is due a refresh this year anyway, so it'll be done slightly early.

That's a couple of nice jobs I've got lined up to do now, and the weather's improving. Now I just need some free time smile

That is the same cost as my 370Z as well(it makes me sad frown).

I only get a 3.7 V6 engine in return for that though...whereas you do at least get a 4.0 V8! thumbupdriving

My Z4M is also £580 a year and I only have a measly 3.2. Oh the pain!

Seems I need to jump ship and enjoy a better CC per £. scratchchin

Makes me feel smug with my £150 a year on mine! hehe Although I’m lacking two cylinders and a litre of capacity. I’m sure the first nice spring drive will make it feel worth it though.

It is pretty savage though. It’s even worse when things like the R32 cost that kind of money.

I manage 5.7 litres for an acceptable £220 per year.

hehe

I was very close to taking the 370Z out today(it hasn't been out of the garage since Dec 14th so I've really missed driving it). The weather is definitely picking up now so it does look promising to be fair.

I had some photo memories of a year ago today(I pulled over and took a couple) and I was out driving it. It was the day I hit a pheasant in it(the car escaped unharmed thankfully) and the photos reminded me!

I'd love £150 a year tax for sure. smile

I didn't. frown

I didn't realise that you can save money by putting it on a sorn. I've sorn'd it before when it had ran out last year though. Do they give you a refund then if you've already paid for the tax?

Cheers. smile
