MK2 Escort LS1 in orange!

Well I hope I have done my home work!
The supra diff is some 8 kg heavier due to the pig iron case and not alloy as the cossie is. But then again the cossie case only breaks when the internals fall out with each other and one is asked to 'pick a window'.
If you do a search you will find all the big power cossie boys and v8 conversions are using them. Just hope I am right!

Hi Finlay
The arb has been there from day one( well since I built it!). Suppose I should disconnect it at some point to see if it makes a difference!
How is your beast going?
ahh gotcha, mine is getting "tweaked" all the time at the moment, been playing with front geo again and now pretty happy with the feel now, just fitted new 13" minilites to it and now love how it drives or glides now lol, much less vibes and the deeper wall tyres just feel better, ive got 4 R888 225 to fit so they should help with getting traction as moving from 17 x 9 to 13 x 8 i noticed quite a difference in how much the tyres lost traction, the 225/45 R888s actually will give me the same contact patch width wise as the the 17 245/35 did and are a better tyre so lookin forward to seeing how they turn outThe arb has been there from day one( well since I built it!). now investigating braking options, i think i can squeeze a set of wilwood 6pots in under the front 13s failing that im gonna fit new 4 pot midilite with ferodo ds3000 pads
jobs on list are, cut out the middle exhaust silencers and only use the rear silencers which im going to shorten, fit new seats (refurb recaros) fit some sound deadening and replace the quick release stearing wheel with a fixed boss, re mount the petrol tank filler pipe and sort out a better breather as petrol pisses out the filler cap when i go fast round rights lol
ive decided to move away from the race car vibe and go with a more Pro touring feel, bit more comfort lol, still going todo trackdays though, got 2 booked up for august
im halfway through building a chevette that will be all out thrasher/race car that will give me that fix lol
cheers for now
Finlay
p.s did you ever get it on the RR ?

Hi Finlay
Wow you have gone to 13s eh. I have stuck with the 15s. There is no way I can get any smaller due to my brake set-up which is now spot on. I am quite close to spot on with the handling too now and the Supra diff must have been modified cos it is so so tight!
Actually spent time tonight sorting my data logger out - first time I have looked at it since last summer. Got it working now and went out tonight to check on slightly damp roads and had wheel spin in fourth without trying so can understand totally how you had you mishap.
Still no rolling road as still not sure if I have a cooling problem or not! I need to see if I need a bigger rad or not then we can see what it is actually putting out.

I tried a couple of 0 to 60 runs last night both were 4 sec. But need to sort the method of getting there! First run was via keeping in second and running into the rev limiter. The second was via changing up to third at the last moment but this resulted in a very slow gear change. So I think I will try a short shift into third to see if I can get a quicker shift. Next a 'private' road to check the 0 to 100!
Been a while since I have posted anything on here - but I have been busy -honest!
MX5 now fixed and MOTed, this included chopping out a badly repaired chassis rail and the fitment of a new engine! The old engine had an oil leak from the back of the engine and also was a nightmare to pass the emissions last year so suspected worn injectors.

Removed the plated mechanical diff to fit the Weir kit from the USA. But tried a torsen diff I had in stock just to see how it performed - as expected worked fine until it lifted a wheel.
Wanted to change the ratio while I was on rebuilding the mech diff, so had hoped that a crown wheel and pinion from a Lexus 430 would fit (supplied by Nick of plus4 engineering) but no such luck!
Anyway diff back in and it feels great.
That's 4 diff changes to date!
I have also fitted an oil cooler, which has incurred yet more chopping of the front end. Not sure if I like the result!
