My work is done.

Off for the final pieces with the professionals, some glass fitting, secondary fuel tank needs connecting / checking and of course in the inevitable electrical gremlins!

Hopefully get an update from the garage next week.

Then next steps - MOT and road register with the DVLA - easy....

I was talking to my wife about the jeep and she asked if I could convert to electric. Interesting thought but I think would be price prohibitive!
Better idea.

This is so awesome, you need to get a decent video of your first end of project drive.

Not yet, I know the garage is snowed under at the moment and i'm not in a mad rush. Gives me time to work on the Chevy, looking to move that on soon. Fleet consolidation!

TVR is going nowhere though smile

You know how thirsty they are? I'd say single figures on idle

Fantastic project! Just read through from the start and great to see it almost done.

Did you change your mind on painting the steelies white?

Thank you!

Wheel wise, when I dropped off at the garage he had a quick look and the tyres are all shot, we then discussed the wheels. They are pretty pitted / corroded and have a number of dents in the rims, some pretty bad. So looks like a new wheel and tyre package could be cheaper then having this wheels fixed up and painted.

Bit more investigation to do there yet....

Also got to find a roof trimmer, the fixings on the new roof don't match up with the windscreen surround so looking to remove the fixing from the front of the old hood - still in good nick - and have those fitted to the new hood. Got to get it watertight before winter...

If they're tubed tyres, this may be a good opportunity to see if you can get some appropriate looking wheels that are ok for tubeless tyres and switch to those.

Popped in to see the progress and drop off a few more parts.

The Goat was apparently in a worse state than I thought - carburettor was leaking, front shocks shot, brakes were almost non existent and the steering rack was held on by a couple of split pins - oh and one of the fuel tanks needed a damned good flush!

But in very capable hands and progressing well.

Some of these parts were hard to source so reached out to a colleague in Dubai, he's from Ukraine and has a friend with 2 x UAZ - this chap has been great and gave me details of a parts supplier in St Petersburg. Parts all now ordered and on their way!

Decided to upgrade from the old lever shocks to a 'more modern' setup!

To replace all 4 shocks, brackets / mounts, bushes and brake shoes came in at less than £140...admittedly its another £100 to get them to the UK but pretty good and all genuine new UAZ parts.

Next on the list are the wheels and tires. I'm keeping the original wheels and having them stripped and powercoated. Colour wise in a quandary, should I stick with the standard black, switch to white or a.n other colour...?

So I have an MOT and the UAZ is back home. Picked it up just before Christmas, there were more than a few things that needed to be sorted but pretty much there now.

Road registration process underway with the DVLA so just waiting for that to be finalised.

The new set of tyres and shocks all round have made such a difference to the rise; yeah its still slow and noisy but NVH much less!

The number of smiles and waves I got driving it home and to the petrol station was great.

Hood back from the trimmers now too, tried to fit that over the weekend but doesn't seem to be big enough. I think it needs stretching but as its been so cold and the hood doesn't seem that pliable I think i'll wait before trying to force it into place.

Which badge shall I fit.... wink

Its looking pretty much complete now!

Couple more jobs to do, biggest is the wheels. Got one done and painted - was the spare whilst the jeep was in the garage and got another stripped and ready to prime. Taking a while to get the multiple layers of paint off and prep :/

This one turned out well, 3 to go...

Roll on the evenings so I can get it completed ready for Spring!
