Oh man, this is just perfection. Great job so far.
Thanks, some good stuff on your website too!I forgot to put up anything about the front brakes;

The AP Racing calipers used are very light, the lightest Ive ever held.
Hi, we have a bit more done:
More details on the engine and loads of pictures here:
http://www.motorsport-tools.com/blog/millington-di...
But here are a few sneaky quick snaps off my phone:
Engine in and plumbing started, using our own Motamec fittings.
Just setting up a picture for some of our new FIA seats. But this shows the gearbox is in, with custom fabricated gearbox mount and hole cut in tunnel.
Will get some proper shots of the engine and gearbox in place, with the mounts etc soon.

Is there any chance you could give us the price you would charge a customer for this (since this is a build for the business so to speak) so I know how much of a chunk I need to allocate from my lottery win?
Aside from the nosey aspect, it's interesting to compare this with the MK2's I used to mess around with some 20 years ago and what I used to do to them in order to make them (in my mind!) just like this one.
We sell the parts, we don't build cars for customers. Aside from the nosey aspect, it's interesting to compare this with the MK2's I used to mess around with some 20 years ago and what I used to do to them in order to make them (in my mind!) just like this one.
But I would guess to get a modern spec Escort built for you, the cost would be around £80k to £150K depending on spec. Historic spec could be a little less maybe £60k+
There's a very very nice historic spec mk1 on eBay at the moment for £65k, it probably cost a lot more to have built.....

£150K?!!
Wow! Had no idea you could spec a MK2 to that kind of level.
you could spec any car to £150,000 - it's all about man hours and high end partsWow! Had no idea you could spec a MK2 to that kind of level.
if you grab an original fiat 500 and want a BMW v10 in there i would suspect it would require some fairly serious modifications

Thanks! Love that car! We are going to do a write up that for our blog.Ranger 6 said:
I'll look out for it on the Flatters - this year?
Will you go as far as Mull? That's a bit of serious tarmac
As much as we'd like to say yes. Being realistic the car probably wont be finished until next year. Will you go as far as Mull? That's a bit of serious tarmac
Here's some studio pictures we have been doing for some of our new Motamec FIA products and new alloy handbrake, I cant resist posting them (excuse the plug):
Motamec FIA GRP Racing Seat
Motamec 4 Point FIA Harness
Motamec 6 Point FIA Harness

That just makes my point even more valid.
Leaving aside the fact a V8, whilst awesomely cool, has no place in a MK2 Escort.

If you look at the first page of this thread you'll see that the thread is about a white Escort with a Millington. Not the black V8 above.....Ive changed my user name since starting this thread, sorry if this causes any confusion. (formally Work-Shy-Wanabe).
Anyway, the car build was delayed partly due to being very busy and partly to sorting out the power steering kit. We have been working together with Rix Engineering to produce a Corsa B power steering kit, which is now finished and available.
Here it is being fitted:
Details here, available with or without Cora B donor parts:
http://www.motorsport-tools.com/rix-engineering-es...
http://www.motorsport-tools.com/rix-engineering-es...
Anyway, we have cracked on with the rest of the car and Classic Ford have been along to take some pictures of it:
A lot of the plumbing is done, but still lots left to do....rad and the loom!
Axle, wheels, suspension and windows fitted. Its really looking good, very happy with the Red wheels. Ready for Classic Ford shoot:
Sneak peak at some of the shots being done for Classic Ford:
It should be up and running by the next update. But it probably wont be anytime soon as the loom will need to be custom made.
EDIT: As you can see from an interior picture, there's still a fair bit of work left to do.

Did anyone see the car on the Classic Ford calendar?
Very happy with it, they did a fantastic job. We have a load of them so if any of you want one, message me your address and I'll see what I can do.

Very nice ... but ... shouldn't those bolts on the track rod ends be the other way round?
Same on the TCA's. Nut comes loose, bolt falls out due to Isaac Newton. Lovely bits - Shoddy prep.Anyway here are a few nice pictures of the back end.

After the loom was done, we had a few problems getting spark which drove us round the bend for a couple of days. Was solved in the end with help from Roy Millington and Alex at DTA fast. Was all out fault when wiring up the engine loom.
Here's a video we did of the first start of the engine, please excuse the belt slip and 500rpm idle at the beginning of the video.
