Coded in fog lamp cornering lights (low speed) and the extra wipe to catch the drips.
Both are pretty handy and free!

VCDS. Also changed the comfort indicators to five flashes, digital speedo, changed the DIS to show the temp all the time, and some other stuff I’ve forgotten.
Keep meaning to try coding so the sunroof shuts if it starts raining!

Just don’t be tempted to buy a cheap copy off eBay, they’re crap and don’t work properly. They don’t support software updates either

No such thing as different makes/good or bad, its either a genuine one or a copy.

It is only coding, so no physical changes to the car unless you retrofit something.
Everything is reversable, just do a full scan before changing anything. Then you can put it back to how it was, or undo any mistakes you make!
It is possible to make damaging changes, so obviously you need to do some research and use your head.
If you don't want to buy a cable then you can go on the facebook group and ask for someone local.
Most people will do coding for you for £10-£20. I'm in Northamptonshire if that's any use.
Not all cars can do everything possible, it all depends on build year and which modules the car has got.

There is also a dongle that works with your phone called OBDeleven, but I've never used it, so have no idea if it's more powerful than VCDS, but I don't think it has as many options IIRC
