Yes late 2015 September I think

"Apparently It seems there was some concern that the back of the ST was too aggressive, so Ford has stiffened the rear torsion beam by 27%, fitted a thicker front anti-roll bar (21mm instead of 19mm), and recalibrated the steering to match.

These alterations then allowed the engineers to reduce the spring and damper rate by using new front springs and dampers and new rear dampers (using the same springs) making the ST softer, and better able to deal with sudden bumps and camber changes."

Apparently, as Ford couldnt justify the expense of sending two different chassis setups down the production line, it started to put the suspension changes onto the standard ST last year (apparently from 13/8/15) without telling anyone, as it didnt want to ruin the ST200 surprise. The shorter final drive is unique to the ST200, though.

Small update I received my Mountune oil cap today .

From Mountune this is £ 65.00 but I got one new off a forum member for £ 25.00 .

I have a few more bits to get before it is finished that include a Mountune short shifter , Mountune brake lines , and a Quaife ATB LSD that will be later this year .

Tight and fiddley to install the Mountune unit is 

Shift feels amazing now and is one of the best things I have done to the car .

Damn you photobucket! tank

Symposer delete, I went for Boomba Racing's version - because I could get it cheaper in the U.S (I'm in Illinois near where Boomba are based 4 or 5 times/year) and it imporved the inside feeling hugely!

How tricky or easy was the shortshifter to fit? Noticeable difference?

At the weekend I installed my Mountune braided brake line kit along with some other parts .

First up was to check the rear brake pin sliders as I have read that that they can cause uneven were on the rear discs if they are not moving correctly .

The NSR were ok but I re greased anyway but the OSR were dry as a bone and looks like they never had any grease in them from new as my car is only a year old .

I gave the car a wash at the weekend and took the car for a good long drive and its reminded me just how good this little thing is now .

The one and last thing it will need will be the LSD as this will make the car perfect and will allow all of the extra power to be deployed all of the time .

Over the Christmas holidays I managed to get a few more things done on the car and do some service work .

The car has just come up to 12000 miles .

First up was to clean the ITG air filter as it has not been cleaned in over a year .

Old dirty looking filter

Clean and oiled ready to go back in

Then a quick engine flush and an oil and filter change

I replaced the spark plugs for new ones

With this little lot done I started on installing some new bits on the car

First up was a Mountune Roll restrictor

New vs old

Then I set about changing the boost pipes for some Mishimoto large boar ones .

The Hot side pip is a one part unit so less chance of boost leeks and is much larger at 2.5 inch

The cold side is again larger at 2.5 inch

Installed

I wrapped the cross over pipe with heat reflect tape as this sits just over the turbo and does heat soak and gets warm to the touch .

Then on to the last job fitting the Boomba inlet manifold and throttle body spacers .

With the Inlet manifold off this was a good chance to have a look at the valves .

The car has done 12000 miles and they have a fair bit of gunk on them so I gave them a clean ( I have done this on my old 208 GTI so have a few techniques for this )

12000 miles of build up

Much cleaner

It’s by no means perfect but much cleaner than they were and not bad with just some simple tools .

Inlet manifold spacer installed with some extra sealant on the ports just to be on the safe side .

Throttle body spacer installed

Everything installed and put back together .

I have not taken if for a long dive yet but I will update with the findings .

The Mountune short shifter was one of the best things I have done to the car .

RC1807 said:
Any difference with the spacers?

I do like the qulaity of Boomba stuff. I must pay a visit to them next time In in Illinois; I'm about 30mi away from them 4 or 5 times/year!

Just noticed you questioned me last July about the shortshifter fitting, but I think it was in error. I used Boomba's symposer delete. I'm not brave enough to do ANYTHING that needs spannering, so no shortshifter on my ST.

So next up and to finish the car off I have the car booked in to Devil Developments on the 06/02/18 to have a Quaife ATB LSD fitted along with new bearings oil etc .

I will also be having the car lived mapped with there custom stage 3 software and a RR session done to make sure everything is ok .

I have also just ordered a Whiteline rear anti roll bar and powerflex rear spring cup bush along with some new super pro front droplinks .

And to finish off iv just ordered the Mountune club sport suspension .

I think this will just finish off the car nicely and will be just how I want it .

It is only the rear I will be adding as the car has the front bigger 21mm unit from the ST200 .

The car had a rear torsion set up and form stock does not have a RARB so this will help tie the rear end down a bit and I don't think this will add too much stiffness .

The spacers were done with the big boost pipes and service so cant say it is them but the car does now have better pick up better throttle responce and more torque feel to it too .

WCZ said:
will it not be too stiff on the road with those arbs added too?
did the boomba spacer make any difference?

I managed to install all of the suspension upgrades at the weekend a nice and easy job and one step closer to the car being finished off .

The upgrade parts are Mountune club sport suspension ( bilstein B8 shocks and Eibach / Mountune springs ) Powerflex rear spring isolators , Whiteline rear anti roll bar and superpro front HD adjustable drop links .

First off was how the car is on the stock Ford suspension that is very good from the factory and the car handles amazingly on this OEM set up but as with everything it can be improved .

My car is a 2016 and is running the Fiesta ST200 revised suspension ( information in the below ) with changes being a thicker front ARB and a stiffer rear torsion been set up along with revised shock and spring rates and quicker steering rack .

Apparently It seems there was some concern that the back of the ST was too aggressive, so Ford stiffened the rear torsion beam by 27%, fitted a thicker front anti-roll bar (21mm instead of 19mm), and recalibrated the steering to match.

These alterations then allowed the engineers to reduce the spring and damper rate by using new front springs and dampers and new rear dampers (using the same springs), making the ST200 softer and better able to deal with sudden bumps and camber changes.

Apparently, as Ford couldn’t justify the expense of sending two different chassis setups down the production line, it started to put the suspension changes onto the standard ST (apparently from 13/8/15) without telling anyone, as it didn’t want to ruin the ST200 surprise.

Stock set up and ride height

First was to install the Whiteline rear anti roll bar

Then remove all of the rear stock shocks and springs and spring isolators

The stock shocks and springs were all in good nick

The rear spring isolators are made of foam and are very squishy and do brake down very quickly .

New mountune springs

Rear Bilstein shocks

The rear installed

Super pro front drop link

Front Mountune clubsport kit and old shock

And all installed

I ran out of light to take some pictures of how the car now sits but will update this later

Came across this and not my cup of tea at all regarding the car and the driving on public roads but was interesting seeing how a hybrid fiesta ST goes vs an A45 AMG standing and rolling .

So I have given the car a little test over the week end but as its been so cold have not had chance to push it in the corners .

First impressions are that the car is a little bit stiffer and more firmly sprung going over bumps than the OEM set up but is no more and TBH less crashy over bumps and ruts .

Body roll seems to be even less as well .

A few shots of how the car now looks .

OEM set up

New set up

I will see how this settles down and how it feels in the corners but the ride height is spot on for me as I did not want too much of a drop from OEM to keep in the very OEM feel of the upgraded car

Nice additions! Will be really interested to see the results of the mapping, I'd expect with a live map the figures will be impressive.

Any further plans?
The car will be in tomorrow for the mapping and also the Quaife ATB LSD and that will be it as I think the car will be spot on with how I want it to be with the upgraded engine , suspension , handling , and drive train but still keeping the OEM feel , look and sound of the stock car .

Last week I had the car go in to Devil Developments for them to fit the Quaife ATB LSD along with new bearings , gear oil etc.

Yesterday with the roads not covered in salt or water and with the temps not a –1 I had a little test of the diff to see how this has changed the car .

Blown away is the best way I can sum it up the grip the car now has is amazing and the car can now put the power down and just fires you out of corners like you would not believe .

Where before you would have to come off the throttle you can now just pin it and the car gets dragged around the corner and silly speeds .

I would say without a doubt it is the best modification I have ever done to any car and left me shocked at how much of a difference it has made to the car Utley Utley amazing bit of kit .

I also got them to add there custom live map to the car using Evolution chips software as I have heard nothing but good things about them .

The car was running the Collins stage 3 software and did 269 BHP and 269 LB/FT at Surry rolling road in October .

I have from the last rolling road installed some Mishimoto big boost pipes and a Boomba racing throttle body and inlet manifold spacer and an engine service oil filter , new plugs , clean of the ITG induction and a deep inlet valve clean .

The above along with the new map on the car the car made 305 BHP and 320 LB/FT .

Looking at the two graphs that is a peek increases of 36 BHP and 51 LB/FT and the car is making more power and torque of around 38BHP/LB/FT across the entire rev range .

The car was running great with the old set up and was a very quick little thing and in Germany last year was happy to sit with a MK3 Focus RS but even in this tune grip and traction were always a problem but now it is alarmingly quick at putting speed on .

With this new set up of the Mountune and other bits on the suspension the Quaife ATB LSD and the new map the car is now just how I wanted it and is by far the quickest thing I have ever owned and down a back B road is so much fun and scary how quick it is but at the same time looks , sounds and feels very OEM and very stock .

I will be off to the Nurburgring in August and can’t wait to see what this car can do there .

The only last thing that will need upgrading will be the brake pads as the stock ones do have some fade when pushed a bit

After all of the other upgrades one thing I did notice was that the stock brake pads can fade under use sometimes so to go with the Mountune braded brake lines and Motul RBF 600 fluid I have installed some ECB Yellow stuff pads front and rear .

Removed the front calipers .

I re greased the front slider pins .

OME and yellow stuff pads .

And installed .

Just need to bed them in now and see how I get on .
