I realised the other day that I had forgot to update this thread, there isn’t a whole lot that’s changed... I have used a lot of fuel, made quite a lot of noise and removed the tread from my rear tyres at a greater rate than the fronts!
I have made a couple of little cosmetic changes toe the car and am toying with a couple more, I have changed the mirror covers for carbon fibre ones that look awesome in my opinion and I have completed the LED light upgrade by changing the fiddly puddle lights in the wing mirror housing. They basically entailed removing the glass carefully and then releasing the housing for the lights and then refitting with the new LED’s in place, anyway a few pictures tell the story better than my ramblings!
And a snap from a very rainy break away in the Yorkshire dales the other weekend

New shoes fitted this week, changed to Michelin Pilot sports 4S tyres and before they were even scrubbed in they were better than the jaguar figment Dunlop’s that have some known issues anyways. I have also ordered the spires centre section of the exhaust which replaces the resonators with an X-pipe so will see how that sounds and if it doesn’t drone then it will be staying! Anyways that’s a good enough excuse for a cheeky picture and you can expect a video update once the centre section is fitted.

After I pulleyed and tuned my 5.0L XKR, I eliminated the center resonator and put an X pipe in. It made the growl a bit richer and deeper, but my Mina exhaust is actually quieter than the factory one. But i'm too lazy to chnage it back.
Funnily enough I have a spires centre section coming which deletes the resonators and adds an x-pipe so I can’t wait to see what difference that makes. The spores backboxes are definitely louder than the stock ones on mine so I am just hoping that it doesn’t drone at all ideally but very little would probably be acceptable! Added the spires centre section a couple of weeks ago and I have to say I love the sound even more now I think, the sound is a bit more cultured and exotic than it was with just the backboxes on there and the car definitely seems to rev a little more quickly and freely now. There is a little bit of boom in the cabin at very low revs but not much and it’s definitely worth it when you get further up the Rev range... also this car is basically a toy so it’s all good. Anyways enough rambling!!

So I have now had a viezu remap on my car and what a difference it has made, basically they send you the V-switch and you carry out a scan of your current standard map on the car. Then you email that to them and tell them the mods etc. that you have on the car and they send you a remap back that’s suitable for the mods and you install it using the v-switch. It basically means that you can have the same service as going there without the travel.
First impressions are that the car feels a lot more alive, throttle response is improved greatly and the car revs a lot quicker almost as if a lightened flywheel has been fitted as well. Although the car wasn’t lacking before the roll on performance is now absolutely mental, I didn’t think that the difference would be as big as it is to be honest. The car should be somewhere in the 560-570hp range and 520-530lb.ft and it certainly feels like it now!

That's so impressive, I struggle to get more than 25 mpg out of my E55. Lovely car OP - interesting stat on your 50-70 mph of 1.9 seconds, for reference Evo magazine timed the E55 (W211) at 2.1 seconds for the same increment so you have a SERIOUSLY rapid car.
Yeah it’s pretty bonkers 50-70 and I would venture even quicker now after the map but I will have to get some timing gear on and check that, I have seen 35mpg out of mine on a long run out of interest and this is what I have done over the year I have owned the car. I haven’t had a before and after dyno but the butt dyno feels a considerable gain, I may at some point get it on the dyno though. They think that I should have gained 50-60hp and 80-90Nm so should be somewhere around 560-570hp and 520-530lb.ft
I would have loved to head down to the pod but I am working an awful lot at the moment on shifts so won’t be able to make it down. I am fairly tempted to head to a Vmax event if I can make the dates work this year though.
Don’t get me wrong the mpg isn’t great most of the time around town but it’s nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be! My old Impreza was much worse.
The 35mpg was on a run from north London to Lancaster and it was nice and clear with basically no stopping, I don’t think the Jag has cylinder deactivation to be fair, The 8 speed gearbox helps though as it’s only doing 1500rpm at 75mph.
The merc looks awesome, I will have to own an AMG at some point for deffo!

Whilst in Mexico I ran a quick little test, I am sure that the exact GPS speeds aren’t 100% using the app OBD fusion but it gives a comparison of the rolling speeds. Ignore the 0-60 in the right hand side which is after the tune as it was very wet so there was no traction and I was nursing the throttle so as not to just detonate the rear tyres haha... The gains 50-70 are still slightly traction limited as well so I think it will go faster still on some dry tarmac... the gain made in time is accurate between the two and is still pretty impressive!

Nice!! Which events you looking at? I would love to do the same after map and pulley Santa Pod on Sunday!
I’m thinking maybe a Vmax event or something at elvington, they do a top speed event but I think the runway is only a mile so wouldn’t be able to go completely flat out... Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
