Have seen a couple of reports of leaks like that - happy to report that mine has survived the recent huge amounts of rain just fine! hehe

Finally worked out how to engage MG Pilot - L2 autonomous driving that keeps/changes lane and holds speed. Quite impressive stuff at this price point.

The kit it uses to do so is Bosch though so I guess it’s not too surprising that it works well. Great For motorway driving.

That stuff amazes me. A couple of years ago I was upgraded to a Volvo XCsomething at a rental place. I pressed a few buttons to see what they would do and all of a sudden the car steered itself around a corner on the motorway. At the time I didn't know cars did this. Incredible. Alas it also told me to put my hands back on the wheel when I wanted to see how far I could get without actually steering...quite right too.
I find it absolutely remarkable that a £20k MG has this kind of kit - I had a £36+k VW Tiguan for a week last month and it couldn’t do half the stuff this can. Mental.

Good read

My local MG dealer is doing these £248 deposit and £249 a month for 3 years I think it is. Would be a no brainer for most people who do their driving locally with the occasional trip further afield( aka 85% of people) and more than likely 100% of people who would be looking at a MG or any other car in this class really.

I would have one, I’m trying to convince my work to let me trial a transit PHEV.
That sounds very cheap - the deposit might be higher than you think.

Thanks - it's the 5p/kWh that's vital, I guess. Even at E7 rates you'd be over the quarter.

Looks like that's only available for 4 hours - so 28kWh? Likely more than enough for the vast majority of users but does make it more likely you'd want to be sticking it on charge often rather than every few days.
Most people with an EV and home charger plug in every night - those with off street parking anyway.

Toasterpilot hows life with the MG. I am dipping my toe in the EV pond this week with a 48 hr Corsa e test drive. I’m tempted by one of these though. What’s it like?
It's going well so far, about 500 miles in and apart from the odd trim rattle which I'll get looked at in due course, it's been brilliant so far. Far more car for your money than the Corsa E although I do believe the Corsa adds a bit more range if you can live with the reduced size and increased cost! smile

I've rambled into a camera a bit about it - I plan to cover it in more detail going forward. Keen for suggestions of things that are of interest / questions people have from hearing Internet heroes talk about a car they've never seen nor driven (or over-enthusiastic owners who, equally badly, make out that it has no flaws whatsoever!)

I am not convinced that the financial incentive alone will get that many people driving electric. Take some test drives though, and then come back and tell me you want a diesel! smile

Good video TP, Enjoyed that and I like your honest appraisal and your delivery. I will let you know how the next 48 hrs of EV life pan out for me and hopefully I’m as open minded as Ibelieve myself to be. One last thing, if I said Kingsway, Gloucester I wouldn’t be far off would I?
Keen eye - I don't live in that part of Gloucester but I drove that way in the video when heading towards the M5 smile

Good luck with the test drive - keen to hear more about the Corsa E!

My alternative was returning ~24mpg on the commute. It really was a no brainier.
Sounds similar to me - this replaced a shed of a 2001 X5 which was pretty woeful on fuel.

You don’t happen to have rear facing child seats do you? Would love to know if you can fit one in the back and still have a 6ft + person sit comfortably in the passenger seat. Very few cars seem to be capable of this!
I don’t, but if I can borrow one I’ll give it a go for you! laugh

It’s not a huge car but there does seem to be a decent amount of interior space.

I don’t think you can.

Here we won’t even get the app, but I believe even if you lived somewhere that does have the app, there is still a bit of messing about to get it to pre cool or pre-heat. I believe the issue is because it doesn’t have a climate control system, it just has basic fan control and left-cold, right-hot heater knob.

Maybe this has been updated, but I don’t know.
No change here. I see a lot of owners moaning about this but it’s not as if they were ever told it could or would have this!

Thought it'd be a good idea to show the good, bad and ugly of public charging, network by network.

InstaVolt's up first... which is definitely in the top tier.

Thanks TP another useful vid for EV newbies. I must admit I stood looking at BP? charger at Malvern Spa the other day with a view to topping up the loaned Corsa e. I couldn’t work it out. Something about minimum card charge of £15.00 or something so instead decided to not bother. As it happened I took it back after another 50 miles of blasting it with 36 miles left. The salesman was genuinely chuffed I’d properly enjoyed it. Arranged for him to call me mid Jan as reckons maybe some ex demo deals to be had then.
That probably indicates that they’ll pre-authorise £15 on your card to make sure you have enough money to pay for your charge. Same as pay at pump does.

InstaVolt does that too but it’s £5.

Why would you compare to a 2nd hand ICE and not a new one? Always going to be heavily weighted one way surely.

Duster would be ICE

I'd compare them because they would be the two cars i'm interested in, mainly looking at cost of ownership over three years.

HTH
But why a second hand Duster and not a new one? It's not a fair comparison - the depreciated car is going to win pretty much every time.

Just like you can make a £1000 7 series more (financially) appealing than a brand new Sandero if you try hard enough.

If you can get the Duster new with LPG I think it’s about £13k and their salesman say it’s the sweet spot for price and running costs.
Did they ever actually start selling them with LPG? LPG pumps are disappearing from forecourts at a fair old rate!
