alls been wellish with the old girl recently, she passed MOT first time, with no advisories, even with the fuel pump adjustments although, the other day my wipers stopped working i initially thought it was the stalk, but i took the motor out to feed the vaccum hose for the boost gauge through the slam panel.
where the motor sat was all full of leaves and the casing for the motor had rusted through
so being a typical banger, and not wanting to spend anything, i bodged
and the PH sticker!
yes, thats the rear wiper motor, used in the front, held in my a block of wood and cable ties
the relay is wrapped up in a bag to seal it, and the contacts have been covered in tiger seal to help against the water
best thing is, when i eventually get round to getting a new motor, i can fit it back as it was
i really cant be arsed with spending on it, i need all the money i can lay my grubby hands on for the MK1 golf project i have!
so shes been 7months in my ownership, and nothing too awful yet, just the when it breaks/fix it method, rather than preventative maintainance

not at all
i like the smoke tbh! keeps the boy racers at bay, they come flying up my arse, and ill jus put my foot down to make some smoke, soon gets em gone, it dosent smoke as much when on boost, and if i screw the boost compensator in, it hardly smokes, but wheres the fun in that!

In the third picture is the ground black from your exhaust ?. I am amazed it keeps on going !. LOL
i think its the shadow from the cloud of smoke, when the old standard system was on, the tips used to face down, and i used to leave big lines on the road whenever i put my foot down, with this exhaust it just pours out the back and tbh, im amazed its still going too!
well you can thank me for your hot summers then
diesel fumes are supposed to be better for you, as the particles are bigger,so they dont get a far down into your lungs, and dont travel as far in the air. hence why you can see them
anyway, little update, shes now being weaned onto a diet of waste oil, starting with a bit diluted with diesel as its cold and i dont want any problematic starting in the mornings, gets cold up in these hills!
im going to the local motor factors to get me a inline heated fuel filter, that should help thin it down a bit, and catch any ste thats got through the factory filter

- - this may not be correct, i may be bullstting, its a nice untrue fact nonetheless

My understanding was that the seals in the Lucas inj pump breaks down due to the makeup of the veg oil and shouldn't be used unless you swap to the Bosche pump.
really? thats interesting :scratchin: i havnt used veg oil yet anyway, just the waste oil, i do seem to have developed a squeal now though, i hope it isnt serious, i think it may be a cambelt tensioner, its up at 183k and i dont know when or if the belt has been changed !
WELL! its dead, its died, its no more!
was running it on neat waste oil, ran absolutely fine, apart from a hard start in the mornings but it had a strong battery so it never bothered me, however, about a week ago i parked on a hill, and when i released the handbreak the back axle made a clunk.
after driving it around for a couple of days i voiced my concerns to my mate, who had a look under the back while i pulled the handbreak.
turns out the bushes that hold the back axle on had sheared, meaning it was only the shocks hodling it on, whenever i pressed the breaks, the back wheels tried to stop, while the car carried on, causin the whole beam to drop forward :O
so shes gone to scrap now! RIP little Puggy, you did me proud!
the golf gti started out like this
but due to the tin worm setting in, it went for scrap too!
didnt hurt to much as i only bought it for 150quid, stripped it, sold the box and weighed it in for more than what i payed! still have a mint interior, the gti alloys and bilsteins for sale cheap too :P
and the money i got from scrapping these two cars went on the deposit for my new car, but thats for another thread
