Thanks very much everybody for the kind comments, yes the red one only has 53 thousand miles and is totally standard. Very rare to get one in this condition, it's a bit of a shame not to use it but it only comes Out on special occasions. The grey one used to be my special car until the red one turned up, that one has 75 thousand miles and engine wise, it's defiantly not standard. It will easily beat my golf gti (upto 90mph anyway) Im using the grey one daily now, and so far I've had no problems with it. And the attention it recieves always puts a smile on my face. They are becoming pretty rare now ( can you remember the last time you saw a 5 on the road?) and ever since I saw one driving down the road with the dump valve sneezing away I knew I wanted on.

Miss my 5's owned 3 from 89 to 99 with the last one featuring in MP back in 94 great cars which at the time felt like go karts for the road! I seem to remember the phase one cars had a problem with petrol in the carbs on very hot days! Still bings a big grin to my face every time i see one.:]

Where is the "like" button on here? Absolutely brilliant. So much nicer than the P2s.

Small update, but the little red renault was used as our wedding car.

We thought it was way cooler than any rolls or bentley

Amazing! Have to say I agree with you on the wedding car idea, when I finally have to get married it'll be an old Mini (hopefully my first if I can ever find it) that gets used.

Indeed it is. There was someone on the 106 Rallye Register who used a fleet of three S1 Rallyes as his wedding cars. They looked fantastic. Something like that is far more interesting that some boring old Bentley or RR as a wedding car.

No unfortunately the exhaust is the only thing non stardard. I've never looked into it but I believe you can't get the original ones anymore. I'm happy with it though, it's not a loud one, just more of a slight burble.

Wonderful to see a nice standard R5, it does look brilliant in original condition but that number plate in my opinion should be thrown away.

I'm no particular fan of French hot hatches. But seeing the red one completely standard and in concours nick is really something else. Gorgeous! cloud9

Both the Renaults look fantastic, and I love the originality of the red one (though I'd get rid of the natty plate if it were mine!).

Love the Renaults. Very cool and seem to be getting quite rare in straight/non-ruined form now?

Do love a proper old school French hot hatch.
