MK2 fiesta fast road car.

Great thread, love a build like this.. always fancied trying to do an original Ford Ka with a 2.0 zetec on bike carbs.. but since they have all either completely rusted away or are well on their way to rusting away that's unlikely to happen now!
(The disclaimer wasn't required by the way, the thread reads perfectly well. )

Love the car, zetecs in old fords really do suit well in my opinion! Just with regards to the previous oil leaks, if you are using the standard zetec crankcase breather separator, then make sure you remove the internals of the PCV valve. This valve remains closed until inlet vacuum opens it, as it would do on a standard setup. I've seen a few conversions puke oil from crank seals simply because the crankcase breather was effectively closed all the time, and thus relying on just the cam cover breather! Apologies if you have already done this
This is awesome
I especially love the hat and blanket on the back shelf lol
Have you rustproofed it for Winter?
Would love to know general ballpark costs for this sort of thing but I'm guessing it's not that cheap, even doing all the work yourself!
re: tyres, Uniroyal RainExpert might come in that size - I always found them very good in a range of conditions, even snow, although the sidewalls might be a bit soft for your liking. (Caveat - they were on the missus' 50-something bhp shopping car... lol) I'd prefer that to Yokos, though - they all seem to be very on/off grip-wise in the damp/wet!

Agree with everyone else, reads absolutely fine, the car looks great and is exactly how i wanted to do a Mk2 Fiesta myself, never got around to doing it though, i see you must be fairly local to me, as i know Botley very well!!!
I'm in sarisbury green, just about to move about near parkgate. Thanks, I've been on PH long enough to know there's a few militant grammar starzi around.

Now that would be a good sleeper. Mines about obvious as it's so old now. (The disclaimer wasn't required by the way, the thread reads perfectly well. )
Think the Ka is a very similar floorplan and even used some later derivatives of the Valencia crossflow my car had.

I have indeed gutted it, and had on the 1.8. both engines were/Re vent into an old catch can I had. Interestingly after conversation with dunnell engines. He sells pcv blanks as the cam cover vent is plenty until you run boost or very high rpm. He seemed to think it was more a sign of problems.
I wish I'd made an adaptor for the comp tester now. As I'd no for sure.

I haven't, however it doesn't really go out in the wet. She's about of garage queen in that respect. And it get washed asap if it does get salty. I'm about anal about it. I especially love the hat and blanket on the back shelf lol

Hmm... I may be a little older than you, as I remember Alleycats for what they were: the cheapest nastiest alloy wheels and the first step up from Weller steel wheels.MUCH prefer the Revolutions, which were a proper motorsport wheel, too.
the revs were nice but they gave me problems. And buying the knock off revs seemed abit off. As far as I'm aware 'allycats' no longer exist. I'm a little be limited on choice as the car has MK1 golf GTi arches welded in. So I need a lower offset.
Because I hate 'strectched' tyres I cant run any of the 7" wide wheels either. Well I could on the back but staggard wheels on an fwd car is just odd to me. in abit of a catch 22.
I'm trying to remember what my Mk2 XR2 had: were they 6" or 51/2" x 13"s? 185/60/13 P6s, certainly. Then, I wondered about 7" Capri wheels which were sort of similar, but now Id probably be looking at copy RS wheels in a wider 13" fitting.
Mine was nippy enough with 100bhp, so it should be as lively as anything with a Zetec fitted.

thats the standard size for and XR2, im not sure on the offset but i think its quite high like most FWD cars they try to keep the center of the wheel inside the king pin. to control the torque steer. as Im running a 15 mm offset i cant actually run 185/60/13s as they rub and ill be honest they look like balloons in this day and age. Mine was nippy enough with 100bhp, so it should be as lively as anything with a Zetec fitted.
I did consider fitting a 1.6 CVH, but there starting to fetch real money. especially the more sort after ones without the lean burn heads
there are a few period wheels I was considering, however buying 30-40 year old wheels is pot luck at the best of times , Ive learned the hard way in the past.
maybe id my VW back ground but i like the BBS look of the rallye specials (allycats) as i mentioned i think om going to have them refurbed in all silver to tone them down abit.
as for being lively, i was all over the back of a C63 amg down one of my favorite twisty B roads the other day. i was surprised how little he was pulling away on the straights. in the corners I was having to back out of the throttle, and brake early. so actually had some on the table there. i do know the road well, id say he did too though.
