2016 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack
Discussion
Took the Challenger in for an oil and diff oil change yesterday at a local American specialist. They took a couple of nice photos on their page too which I have added below.
Also got the skip shift eliminator fitted at the same time, so a thanks for sorting me out with the part to fellow PHer Matt Harper No longer does the car want to lock out 2nd and go straight into 4th!

Looking sharp, Dom - I'm pleased I could be of help.
Haven't done much in the way of cosmetic mods - most of mine concern the dirty bits - but I was never a massive fan of the factory exhaust tips.
Nor do I have any desire to hack the OEM exhaust to pieces to make it sound obnoxious all the time, versus when the dual-mode system sees fit to release the decibels.
By chance I discovered that the exhaust tips that are OEM on Cherokee Trackhawk are a direct bolt-on to our systems. They ain't cheap, at around $160.00 per side, but I think they look a lot better. If any of you guys would like a pair, let me know...

Seems like you missed an opportunity to take a photo of the underside
Funnily enough that might well appear on here as it is going in to Pro-tect next month for undersealing and foam removal.jamieduff1981 said:

Me too and that number plate looks much better.
agreed! I was never sure of the look and the constant scraping sealed the deal in the end.Matt Harper said:

Took the Challenger in to Pro-Tect services who have performed an extensive rust proofing service. Dodge in their infinite wisdom also filled the sills with foam on these cars for sound deadening purposes, only for the foam to trap moisture which can then rot the car from the inside out. So they removed all of that too!
As you can see there's some discolouration of the foam which highlights the moisture problem, though the vast majority of it was thankfully clean as seen on the floor of their workshop! Fortunately got mine at the right time. Pro-Tect said the car was is good condition underneath which I am delighted with given it came from Michigan!
Subframes rustproofed in black and the floors in clear. Really pleased with the results and thoroughly recommend them!

Thanks both! Dodgy - was expensive but will be worth it in the long run. Happy to share the cost via PM if you're interested in getting in done
if you don't mind that would be interesting. I suspect that there's not much chance of me doing it anytime soon, hoping that a very low mileage and young car will see me right until I can do some savinghemidom said:

I can't remember whether I said thank-you or not (typically my e-mail has screwed up ). Did get the mail so many thanks for that, appreciated lemmingjames said:
How are you finding the car 6 months in?
I might drop you a pm if thats ok on the costs as cant decide whether its worth importing one from the states or just getting a 'new' one here.
I'm likely 'preaching to the choir' but when buying across here make sure you avoid certain companies and view imports from UAE etc more carefully.I might drop you a pm if thats ok on the costs as cant decide whether its worth importing one from the states or just getting a 'new' one here.
Oldcott Motors have a good rep and TCS in Danbury usually have a good selection (got mine from them). I was too impatient/wasn't brave enough to import but there are a couple of highly recommended people who will source and import if you don't fancy doing it yourself (Marc Emms springs to mind)

Oh yeah, i wouldnt get a UAE car but would be looking at either getting one from the States or one already here from the States. Im no stranger to the import game and im tight with money so normally spend ages researching into it.Oldcott Motors have a good rep and TCS in Danbury usually have a good selection (got mine from them). If i go down the self import route, well its another excuse to go on holiday and view the cars out there before buying unseen.
Just tossing up between getting a newer Scat or an older Hellcat as the man maths makes them the same sort of costs - but thats in this country, whereas an import will be alot less but then got the import waiting times etc.
But then saw a Charger Hellcat in Atlanta recently, with a black clear spoiler and it looked nuts.
No problem at all! Happy to answer your questions.
I still love the thing and will have had the keys for a year at the start of March. You get used to the size of it after a while although really it is fine on the majority of our roads given the size of SUVs these days. Understandably gets quite a lot of attention out and about, you'll see lots of pedestrians or other motorists checking it out.
Anyway, some new photos from a trip to Fuel Coffee House which is about half an hour from me. Might help persuade you even more

3 random questions for you;
1. Do the rear seats fold down and accept a pair of skis through the middle
2. Not sure on your area but whats it like in the winter (ive got a mate who has a 3.6 Camaro and wont use it in the winter )
3. Whats your real world mpg? Ive got a feeling itll be the same as my scooby but just wondered.
Thanks

1 - I'm almost positive my seats fold down (will check this evening)1. Do the rear seats fold down and accept a pair of skis through the middle

2 - not had it during winter, though living in the S.E. my previous Camaro seemed ok (if it was icy it stayed in bed as I don't have winter tyres)
3 - I'm on a 5.7 R/T my average for the last 7 months is about 31mpg (going by the on-board 'puter - so just depends on how optimistic that is)
1. Yes they do fold down but not sure how long a pair of skis are!
2. I have to be sensible on the throttle if it is damp or a bit greasy! It is my only car but if it's icy or snow then I'm not going to use it (I'm in Horsham, West Sussex). You can get a wider tyre on the existing rims to help with grip. That or look at a widebody which has the wider wheels and tyres as standard.
3. Trip has it just shy of 20mpg over 4000 miles. Mine is the 6.4 and a manual - Dodgy's might be an auto going by his numbers. Autos have the MDS cylinder deactivation system so will run on 4 at times
