Fantastic, absolutely lovely! I've got a G21 m340i touring which is a great car, but the Alpina just adds some specialness to the formula that is hughly appealing and outside my budget unfortunately. Mine is quick, but that must feel like a luxury rocketship with that performance and suspension comfort. Enjoy!
Loved my old B3S and the latest version should be bought purely for the standard grille over the M cars. Great choice you will love it. I did wonder how they would move the blue Alpina gauges over to the digital world but they have done a pretty good job of it.
My only suggestion.... put the alpina lettering on the chin spoiler. I agree with not going for the side stripes though I’ve never understood them

Excellent write-up - you nailed it, especially regarding the logic (or rather illogic) one must possess to consider buying the ultimate variant (BMW M3 Alpina B3) of the ultimate all-rounder (BMW 3-series) in its most practical guise (Touring).
I too am of a similar disposition; albeit even I pulled back from going to the summit of 3-series on the grounds of costs. Instead, as you know, I opted for the B3’s heavy-oil drinking and even more torquey little (lardy) brother, the D3 S. It literally can’t arrive soon enough.

I'm not one for new cars often, but that is a thing of beauty, and must go like an absolute bullet when needed on the road.
Not saying the M series aren't slow, but those tend to be more track focused, where as the Alpina would be right on that nitch between track and road.

I’ve only driven my car and the green S17NER press car, both wearing 20” wheels. I’ve no doubt the car would ride even better on the standard 19” alloys and if they offered the car with Classics in that size then like you I’d have gone for it. However you can only get the Dynamic wheel in the smaller size. Its a lovely looking wheel-set for sure, but I prefer the look of the Classics. Congratulations.

Oh yes! Despite what I’ve written I don’t enjoy flushing cash down the bog and obviously owning one of these from new for only 3 years or so is punishing in depreciation (the D3 S will be much better on this front). I imagine this will be my last new ICE car and I intend to keep it as long as I can, or at least until leccy tech has advanced to the stage where adoption is a no brainer, which I reckon is several years away yet. One of the ways I justified the purchase to myself is that it really is all the car I will need whilst the kids are growing up.stewies_minion said:

To my knowledge Alpina have never supplied a car with RFT as it would go against their aim of providing a supple ride. This car comes with bespoke P-Zeros that apparently have a more pliant side wall than standard. Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
