Yours looks very good, and clean smile - unlike mine! frown

I also own a white ST2. Mine's from 2014 and has only covered 66,000 km (41,000 miles) to date.

I haven't done many modifications save for
- +150% dipped and mainbeam bulbs
- silverline indicator bulbs
- a metal footrest plate (from the (American) Fiesta ST Owners Club)
- a Boomba Racing sound symposer delete kit (mine buzzed like a wasp, annoyingly, at 80mph, which is the motorway speed limit here)
- gloss black mirror covers, lower front grille, rear valance insert

Mine isnt very clean at the moment, and still has winter wheels / tyres on it.... I should now refit the summer 17" wheels and give the car a damned good clean.

I shall add your thread to my bookmarks.

Enjoy the car.
Thanks for the nice words. I find the paint comes up really well so hopefully you can have it looking spot on for summer!

The paint is a way better finish than on my BMW, which seems bizarre. Reds used to fade but both of ours are Race Red and when polished it comes up almost like its fluorescent in bright sunlight despite being 6 and 7 years old.

Be a fun weekend fitting that lot, they do seem pretty easy to work on, we did the springs and it wasnt hard. Mine goes in tomorrow so am quite excited, will ask them to fit the rear engine mount as well, or sell me one.

Think I need the Diverter/Dump valve as well, but will do on the spend for this month at least, need to use it for a bit then decide where to take it.

Did you have a short shift ? my son came back and borrowed it, obviously used to be his and he was taken aback as to how much improvement the short shift makes, he has got his mate at work with one order one today for his biggrin

I think, secretly he prefers the ST to his Golf R...I washed and vacced it, he borrowed it, went down some back lanes and brought it back filthy, thought at least the interior will still be clean, but no, full of dust, apparently he drove past someone operating a wood chipper biggrin He did offer to clean it to be fair but I did it, I like cleaning it.

It seems a good time to do the diverter valve when I have the wheel & strut off anyway. I’m more doing it for preventative maintenance than looking for any gains but will see how it performs. Seems a lot of cash for what you get in the box but I suppose you’re paying for the development, etc too.

My main worry is hitting problems with top mounts or drop links, have had issues before with simple jobs getting more involved than they should be in theory……

I’ve got the Collins short shift, it’s a great wee mod.

Hide the keys, he’ll be back again!

Looking forward to your update when you get the car back.

Family commitments have scuppered my plans to get the mods fitted, maybe this weekend…..

Did manage a nice run up to Glenshee today, lovely weather for it. Wife was with me so well behaved, mostly biggrin

Finally managed to get the springs, torque mount & GFB DV+ fitted last night.

All pretty straightforward, drivers side drop link was a bit reluctant to come undone & managed to destroy another two wheel nuts (luckily I had some spares). Also discovered that my passenger side front spring was in fact broken!

The springs & torque mount have made the whole car feel more taught & direct, with a bonus marginal gain in ride quality. Also suspect I may have had a very small boost leak as it now feels slightly stronger at the top end. Very happy overall.

Tried to keep the tracking as it was with the old two blocks of wood on the wheels & measuring tape method, but will take it in anyway at the end of the week to ensure it’s ok. Certainly feels fine but I need to go on an 80 or so mile round trip today & want to let the springs settle a bit first without destroying my tyres.

MOT due in a couple of weeks & a service next month. I’ll get them out the way & then I think it’ll be CP2….would quite like a wheel refurb too right enough!

On the brake fluid/service note - mine is now 8 years old & it’s due oil/brake fluid this year. It’s got full Ford service history but I’m tempted to just do it myself & keep the receipts. I’ve no intention of changing the car, but losing the full ‘official’ service history may be a shame. There’s also the option of a middle ground, a well-known Indy is just up the road from me (not Ford, but used to be very well known for Peugeot) so I could go there.

Any thoughts?

At 8 years old I wouldnt worry, especially when modified, those who know them will see its got all the right bits, is in good nick and I would, personally be quite happy with some notes saying when it was done and the mileage, and the labels off the fluid bottle to show what went in, maybe some receipts. Changing brake fluid is dead easy, just a bit fiddly, you did the springs and engine mount so its well within your skillset and you will save maybe £40 and you know its been done, and done properly which isnt always the case. Dont think a full Ford SH would sway me, they kidnapped ours when my son had it and told my son he couldnt take it as the brake pads were dangerous when he took it for MOT, that we knew and had new ones ready to go in didnt matter he had to cough up.

I really think these will go down as a classic, if MK3 RS Turbos and RS1800s have, which weren't actually that well regarded in period, a thoughtfully modified MK7 ST should be a safe bet to always retain some value . I cant see me getting rid of this any time soon, even if in the position to get a 911 or whatever I will keep it as will have prob 13 grand in it, plus I really like it.

Yes, I'd rather know for sure that the correct oil, etc had went in rather than some generic rubbish from a massive drum. I'd also know the car was being looked after rather than being just another car in a list of ten others to be done that day.

With regards to keeping it, I'm going to get underneath come Autumn and put some Lanoguard or similar on to it. Mine is looking a tiny bit crusty in places (nothing to worry about at the moment) and is only going to get worse up here over the long-term with salt being on the roads for months at a time. Probably half an hour well spent.

I’ve been waiting almost since I got the car on the Mountune lower spoiler to come back into stock & had very nearly given up. However, it reappeared yesterday so I decided to treat myself.

Arrived this afternoon, very quick delivery & was an easy fit albeit I had to jack the front up to get a drill underneath for the two self-tappers.

Think it suits a white car in particular really well.

Time for a service. All the bits to do oil & filter, cabin filter, brake fluid change & replace the rear caliper sliders (fine just now but a known weak point & worth changing for £20 while I’m doing the brake fluid).

Did the oil & cabin filter yesterday, will hopefully get the brake bits done this week at some point.

Good thread!

I’m another 40-something who’s thinking about a Fiesta ST as my next daily / commuting car.

The only thing putting me off thus far is security but I guess all I need is a disklok.

There are a few things you can do, Disklock is one of them.

Disabling the OBD port is another and is key for scrotes to get it started, you can blank it off or fit a dummy one. you can also remove the fuse so its dead or break the fuse and put it back.

The use the ODB port to plug in and create a key to start the car, they break the small quarter window which is in a dead zone for the alarm and reach through to plug in their box of tricks that they use to code a new key. Its not foolproof but it does work, I have taken mine to Collins Performance, first time I reversed my security mods, second time I forgot and it took them 15 minutes to unravel it and these are guys that deal with them every day, the fuse being in place but broken is what stalled the most. So doing that, in the dark on my path, and having to remove a Stoplock Pro will slow them down, then there is the tracker.

Depends of course where you live as well and how prevalent car crime is, we have had an attempt on a house over the road for two BMWs, went round the back to break in but the owners were home and the alarm went off. So if you have an alarm, use it, have gates so they cant easily get round the back and festoon the place in these,

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08R664HJK/ref...

They are ace, great for when you take the bins round and stuff at night, and scrotes cant go anywhere without them going off left right and centre.

Oh, and a separate immobilizer isn't a bad shout.

Did my cabin filter the other day as was getting a musty waft when I turned the aircon on, doesnt do it now. Will service it next summer, not long been done, for the mileage I do, once a year is plenty.

Yep, Disklok and some OBD mods should at least put a spanner in the works for any would-be thieves.

I'm quite lucky that my car is off any through roads so can't really be seen. There are a few near me who park on main roads at night, I'd probably get a separate immobilizer fitted if that was me.

Your ST looks great will bookmark.
Seems a trend here… I’m a 40 something i bought a one owner ST2 2013 (115k) as a weekend / track car and I have already had a great track day at Llandow last week, (only done a remap so far Superchip)

I am seriously thinking of selling my daily 8 month old MK 7.5 GTI and just keeping this as I now wfh,

Speaks volumes when you have the keys to a car that’s a 1/5 of the value I don’t hesitate and pick the ST.

After having cars such as 2009 CaymanS and 996’s previously I can honestly say this is the only car that has made me smile so much…

I can’t quite put my finger on it, I’ve had a 996 & a Boxster too, there’s just something fundamentally ‘feel good’ about it. Maybe it’s the fact it’s such a laugh for so little outlay (unless you are Jacko biggrin ), there’s no Porsche or BMW tax, easy to work on with sane parts prices, its easily daily’d, etc.

It’s a bit laddish, but I’m really happy with mine & would be very reluctant to shell out 20 or 30 grand on a car again TBH when this does everything I need it to do.

Good call on the rear caliper sliders. I didn't know about that issue until I was replacing my discs and pads last year - THEN I found the rear sliders were a potential problem. There was water behind the gasket, which I cleaned out, cleaned the sliders off, and put a touch copper slip in there. The car's passed it's local MOT test since, and it's been checked in the service by the Stealer; the brakes function well.
I didn't realise the sliders were so cheap, so I might get hold of some and sort that out myself whilst the weather's good.
