Hey Dan
Yeah that's the chap, has a very good reputation so I'm prepared to do the trip up from Kent to get him to do the work.I know Kewy on here has had his Euro R to him a couple of times and he's chuffed with his car.

Aye thought it was… I know Ste & Don regard him highly so he’s deffo good at what he does!

Stuff like this is always worth the road trip wink

Should well be fella,I'm actually being sensible as theres no way I'm going to do it all in one day.Theres a Premier inn pretty local to the place so booked in there the evening before.Chill and a pint, then up showered and brekky in morning and 10 min-ish drive to TPW first thing.

So I'm back from a day with Paul 'kingtuna' West at TPW engineering.
Got there bright and early ready to go.He got the car all set up for the off, then his USB interface snapped a pin and it was some delicate soldering from Kieran there that saved the day,it did put us back a fair time but got there.
Car is now mapped and from the drive back he's done a great job.The throttle response from part to full throttle is transformed,it drives like a different car.
It doesnt have VTEC crossover coming in as a big lump at 5.5k now, once the fuelling etc was all set up and programmed the result is a more linear 'hit' at 4.5k and pulls strongly through the midrange in every gear. .It would actually be better at the top end if the Legalis exhaust didnt have a weird smaller diameter pipe setup from the back of the main section to the rear of the backboxes. It goes from a roughly 3" section down to 2-2 1/2 then back up to 3 for some reason so Paul thinks its actually a little restrictive at absolute top end ,though it's not something you can notice in the car,it just seems to keep pulling.Think if I were to go for the performance manifold, decat and maybe Ecutek/Haltec ECU route it would need to be looked at but for the car as it is,it's bloody good enough for me!

As many know these aren't torque-y engines, but he's still gained nearly 20lb/ft in the midrange from the original base run (not shown) and also more overall power. So she now produces a very healthy 250bhp but the absolute difference is the driveability.I can wait to put some 'fun' miles on it now,I did a bit on the way home but traffic at that time, around 4:30-5pm on a Monday was pretty busy and then the trip down from Chesire to Kent is largely motorway. But already the car feels really good.So yeah very impressed with his setup and would recommend him for sure. I'm due to take her to Prescott Hillclimb in 4 weeks, that response and pickup will be much more useful on a tight short circuit like that, much more than it was before trying to keep its neck wrung at the top end of the revs all the time keeping it from dropping out of VTEC I would guess, but it'll be the first time up there for it.I've done a couple in my BEAMS Celica and its a great bit of fun.I'm sure the Accord will be a laugh there.

I mentioned the torque. The Injen CAI and exhaust bolt ons did show an increase from the stock BHP factory figure, but it wasn't until it was mapped properly, that the mods along with the really good RBC intake the Euro comes with gave him the increased torque availability. Food for thought for bolt on only mods.

From an even more 'boring' point of view,I thought I'd mention fuel useage. So from my place in Kent with a brimmed tank of Vpower, ( £73 at 1.65 a litre as i had some in there),up to the Premier inn at Northwich ,Cheshire it worked out at just over 227 miles.TPW is around 3 miles from the hotel,so say 230 miles. Now as it was Sunday I actually went,I had shedloads of time and the weather was bright and dry,so i literally did M20/M25/M1/M6 and a bit of A/B road on the way.I just kicked back in the comfy Recaros and popped some music on,drove very sensibly. At the hotel arrival I had just over half a tank left.On the way to TPW to save me doing it on the way home, just round the corner from them I stuck another £45 at £1.56 a litre in it to full.(Cheaper than down south..!)
Did the dyno runs, and a spirited test drive, then headed off in the traffic for home.I arrived on my driveway with exactly half a tank left, so 460 miles from a tank is pretty good for one of these I reckon? Though yes, once on the motorways Google maps reckons overall on way home, i averaged 61.2mph. ( massive long 50mph roadworks on M1 didnt help that).

Glad he knows what all this means....

And I really need to get that camcover refinished...

Very nice. Sorely tempted by a trip to TPW but unfortunately it's at the bottom of a list of unnecessary luxuries at the moment haha.

Wish I had a good update for mine. All that's happened is the Accord badge fell off....

That's a really good outcome; I know he does superb work. Stevie & Don at Grinspeed speak highly of Paul and you can see why

Cheers guys, yeah I would definitely recommend having a chat with Paul for proper mapping stuff, not just Hondas either,he's done some serious work on a lot of different vehicles.Straight to ECU map is £500,I think you get a hell of a lot for that.
I've been really impressed with this car since I bought it,I know they aren't cheap but if you want an N/A car with performance ,comfort and practicality and have room for improvements if thats your bag, then it really is a serious consideration.Especially if you want say Integra DC5 performance but you need the more door and space.I'll be popping the car seat in the back and picking my 5 year old grandson up from school tomorrow,no problem. Then once that jobs done,I think I'll take the slightly longer route home ... hehe

Well I can certainly recommend it myself.I've had the car out a few times this week and its a really brilliant improvement.Even just driving under normal conditions, the throttle response is so crisp, and it actually feels like theres a bit of torque lower down now ! The power comes in smooth and strong in every gear as well. It's great.

Thought I'd update this as I spent a great day at Prescott Hillclimb yesterday.I also got a chance to have a gander at the PH cars too,my car was with the Celicaclub on the day ,as I couldnt get Celica ready in time.Brilliant weather and if you've never done it,highly recommended.

The Accord performed brilliantly, did 5 runs in all.Took a couple of goes to get the best out of the first left hander in this car compared to the Celica, this is the first time there in this car.But once that was nailed down it was great! I love the double headed nature of this car. Such a nice car to cruise in,poke it with a stick though and it'll give you whatever you throw at it.So glad i did the remap, the power coming in earlier and the improved midrange undoubtedly made this car very good on this track. The Rainsport tyres do struggle on the limit though, they are road tyres after all so you certainly wouldnt be cornering etc like this on even the most spirited B road blast. But yeah really happy with the car and the day overall!
