Nissan Silvia S15 - Twin Turbo V8 Track/Drift Car Build
Discussion
Well...
Picked up the car from RS Fabrications last night and brought it back home. Hopefully im going to be able to drop it up with JanSpeed this weekend. Got to make a call later on today
Anyway, this is what it looks like now: (Yellow is a light coat of etch primer to cover up the bare metal, shell will be media blasted before paint)
This isn't my engine, but a picture of a guy i know from Canada who's done something similar but in an S13 (1989-1993) 200sx. It's a smaller engine bay and he doesn't have the arch tubs, but it should give you a good idea about what to expect.
I really don't like the way the inlet pipe runs straight past the exhaust housing. Even with a turbo blanket and heat wrapping it's going to cause a lot of head buildup in there. It's really nice to see how other people do it, so you can take the good from their ideas and not do the bad

I also wanted to share this with you all. It was the video that finally convinced me to do the project and spend the money building it.

Just had a look at the s14's.
2.0 turbo, RWD, Group 16... YES PLEASE!!!!
If you can't even handle a Golf Tom then you'd certainly crash a 200sx.2.0 turbo, RWD, Group 16... YES PLEASE!!!!
Secondly... It's just a want, I'm not going to get it, But it would be nice to own something a bit silly at some point!

Firstly.. its Thom
Is that a Welsh way of spelling Tom?Name originated in school.
My friend alex for some reason used to call me 'Thom', this was said 'Thom' and not 'Tom'.
Lots of my friends then started calling me 'Thom' and so It became the 'norm' so to speak. And for some reason (as you do when your in year 7/8) I started spelling my name 'Thom' All through school I became known as 'Tom with a H' or 'Thom' (kind of like a nickname) and after 5 years of spelling my name in that manner it stuck, and now everyone I know, including family, Spell my name 'Thom'.
And no my friend isnt welsh either, He's from london but then his family moved up here when he was young.
So thats the origin of my name.
Thom
Seeing as we are off on a tangent..

Pretty much, heat exchange between cold river water and hot engine water rather than feeding dirty water through the engine (common sense really). They cook pretty quickly if water intakes get blocked.
