I think I saw this on a trailer on the M1 or M25 (can't remember which) a week or so ago...Has it got some shiny effect numberplate that makes it quite hard to read from not straight on?

Looks like a great project thumbup

Good luck with 11s. 4-5 years, should I ask how much it cost so far? Or rough man hours?

haha thats awesome, i love seeing cars like this from my yoof. My brother in law had an R5 turbo years ago, the laughs we had in that car will remain forever. I remember a copper stopping us and asking us how fast we "thought" we were going. My brother in law responded with "I thought it was your job to tell us since you deemed it appropriate to stop us to tell us. rofl

Why is a solid sheet used to mount the fans? Would it not be better for it to be open and let air through for a greater area?

Great project, keep the update coming!!

The shroud on the back of the rad is to stop hot spots,It does this by drawing the heat from the whole surface of the rad.
If the rad had no shroud the fan would only draw heat from the surface in front of the fan.

most OE fans are like this, albeit separate fans for AC and cooling but they span the complete width and height of the radiator.

The other thing is my rad is a dual cool rad,It has a baffle in one of the end tanks which channels the coolant across the top half of the rad and then cools again across the bottom so the fans do kind of cover the rad. biggrin

I have had the 5 for four and a half years.A few of my mates had 5's, and I went to a few meets in their cars and realy liked the people in the club.So I decided to buy a 5 the first car I purchased was a phase 2 black own that had been ragged silly but I only paid £400 for.
Then I got the buzz for boost built a new engine with some tric parts and also fitted a varible nozzle turbine (VNT) I had no lagg at all.
Anyone who as ever owned a Renault 5 GT Turbo will tell you how great they are the handling the sound its just one of the great Hot Hatch's
Then I sold the car to build the one I have now I went a bit crazy on this own.

Great project, and some really high quality engineering going on too. I'm always so much more impressed with a car, and its owner, when I see pictures of things like the one off fabricated inlet manifold that they have designed and commisioned themselves .... A proper modified performance car is NOT completed over a weekend following a trip to a tuner outlet in a F150 pickup and a barbeque wink

Just out of interest, what kind of power will be involved in targetting the 10's or 11's, and what kind of gearkit and differential will be used to put the power down?

I am looking for about 450 to 500 BHP... Ive had the gear set shot peened and super finished, the diff is made by Gripper. The clutch is a helix 185mm twin plate, I dont think there's much more I can do with the box if it lets go will have to think of other options.
