Where's the engine? laugh.

I jest. I really like what you've done with it actually. Not really my cup of tea but I bet you'll never see another one like it! Good work Emily!

I really rather like that thumbup

It's different without being chavvy.

Spray the wheels the same colour as the engine bay/interior.

Respect for being different.

Im sure I read that someone on the 106 owners club managed to put a turbo on the 1.1 lump. That would get you to 100bhp.

Thank you smile Thinking of lightening the flywheel, porting and polishing the head, getting a new fuel pump (that works!) and building an airbox and getting induction kit on it as cold air to carb is blocked atm by the rad, either that or put a GTi rad in but that seems like too much hastle!

I may convert to a bigger engine at some point in the future, but at the moment this is my project baby and I want to do it to see if it can be done smile Will keep you updated.

And for Lil' Joe who didn't believe me http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y63/cudpud/?actio... I kid you not.

Thought about buying some OZ Rally wheels from a Lancia Delta Integrale but apparently they won't fit, got a few people to ring and enquire though, not buying them if they're too pricey (which is what I expect), trying to keep the project relatively cheap atm (my GTi alloys were free) smile

The red wheels look fantastic at the moment, and if your going for an engine change it has to be an MI16 eventually. If there's any still left that is.

Good luck with it, looks great imo.

That looks like the old XV/XY engine which I always thought mounted differently to the bigger XU's. but looking at it I can't see where the problem would be unless the subframe is a bit different. There are plenty of good GTI6's about wink What shade of red are the wheels? I was going to go bright garish red for my track wheels but those look pretty decent!

I wanted them really bright so I sprayed them 'Ford Carnival Red', but it turned out to be more orange! (as you see in one of the pics), so I reverted to the colour they are now, which is the original car colour - Peugeot regency red smile HTHS

Fair play for having a project car like that as a first car!

Good work on the engine, nearly a 50% increase in power!

Oh and welcome to PH wavey

Don't these engines have the engine oil and gearbox oil together?

Car looks really good, I'm a big fan of 309's, always wanted one, got a 106 Rallye at the moment.

We've got a spare 1.9 GTi engine if you want it? wink

Don't tempt me LOL

My friend knows someone that's getting rid of an Mi at the moment, VTS engine keeps popping into my head though...might just leave as is, while I decide what to do next laugh

I did want to get another 309 as a proper project car (not a daily driver) but lack of space means I can't and also I want my next car to be the one I've wanted for years, so trying to keep costs down on this project, ready for the next one biggrin

Thanks for all the feedback smile

I've decided to go ahead with modifying this engine more, having considered VTS engine (not a lot of power gain but lot's of hastle, high insurance etc)...

...Get it to 100bhp just for the hell of it, then see about an Mi or Gti 6 conversion smile

Good on ya I say, I like projects like that where you squeeze lots of power out of little engines, with a bit of research and fiddling around it can be good fun and cheap, and if it does go pop then the cost to replace is not too severe either. With that older engine you may struggle with finding things like cams and any other performance bits, maybe worth asking on 205gtidrivers.com, they will probably have some definitive answers. My 205 will hopefully be back on the road in the next week or two so i will give you a wave if i see you!

100bhp is enough to have fun in these I reckon smile

A mate of mine is making a turbo'd 306 GTi-6 engined 309, it should be a right beast, I've literally just finished welding the turbo manifold up for him

Northampton, move up here last year. MOT on Wednesday, pretty much most of the car changed since last year and not turned a wheel yet, so rather cacking it at the moment!
