Afraidofcheese: As by brother says, it's a protection film biggrin
Since the car was bought brand new, knowing it would be covering many miles, we decided to get a company apply this film smile
It's been applied to the front bumper, headlights, front half of the bonnet, side skirts, halfway up the sides of the car, the sides of the rear bumper and on top of the rear bumper by the boot aperture.

We haven't done any back-to-back "real world" testing yet, as the car has only just (today actually) had it's running in service. Up until now, he's been restricted to 5,000rpm.

But no doubt, we'll be heading to Snetterton soon so we can see how they compare driving

I RS is lovely... but I'd take the M3.

Looks superb in the grey. In black all the details are hidden but in Grey you get to see the manic...

Put the M3 next to the 335i coupe and you'll see the differences... just same about the interior!

Nice photos there, and two very nice cars.

But IMO the RS4 is by far the better car... test drove both not so long ago and the M3 felt (dare I say it) slow... compared to the RS4..

RS4 is much more exclusive, looks better, better interior... and its the best colour!

I had never really noticed before, until you stuck those photo's up, just how similarly dimensioned / styled those two cars are, similar wheelbase, rear end treatment, front end dimensions etc, if you ignore the manufacturer specific q's (like the audi grille etc) they really are soooo close in a design standpoint!

great pics though! i'd have either in my garage!

Darren you're RS4 looks superb.

Taking nothing away from the M3 - it is a stunning looking car, but the Audi wins it for me every time.

on a side note - is it your RS i see on the A47 occasionally pressing on?

Why do Audi manage to make their engine sit so far forward compared to BMW?

The awd can't make that much difference, if any at all!?

I drove the M3 when I had the RS4. I was a bit disappointed with the RS4's haste, putting it down to the 4wd. But after driving the M3 I had a smile on my face again. Even with all its problems id have another RS4...or a C63 AMG once the prices start falling a bit more. We need another recession!

Hello deevlash! How are you, buddy? wavey
Sadly it's not a performance rival for either the Audi or the BMW - maybe that will be the focus of my next eventual thread in this forum winkbiggrin

Many thanks iggletiggle.
That road is used regularly, and of course I press on up to 70mph angelwinkhehe
What car are you in? I'll try to keep an eye out smile

A bit of nerdy info for you allnerd
18 months on from my thread, the Audi and BMW have performed extremely well, covering well over 20,000 miles each.

We have driven together on the continent, covering Alpine terrain in Switzerland and taking to the Nurburgring - The Audi visiting 3 times, while the BMW has gone there 6 or 7 times now, while my brother has been in Germany for work.
We have only timed ourselves a couple of times on the 'Ring, but he's getting 9 minutes flat, while I'm hovering just under 10 minutes - but I guess this is more to do with driver skill and track knowledge, rather than the cars themselves wink

We have done various "rolling start" comparisons while we were both in Germany - and it's VERY close.
The first time we tried last year, I had 3 passengers and luggage for four in the Audi, while my brother had only himself and his luggage in the BMW. He pulled ahead with a 3rd gear start, so we assumed the BMW was faster.
However this year, we each had 2 passengers and luggage for 3, and it was a dead heat in 2nd and 3rd gear rolling starts. Whoever had "the jump" won the race.
It is then extremely close all the way to the limiter. Interesting enough, both cars have a "soft" speed limiter. Both are officially restricted to 155mph. However, the BMW runs to an indicated 168mph, while the Audi gets to 169mph, indicated - on the GPS, its 162mph and 164mph, respectively.

I'm sorry to admit, that while I do have videos of some of these rolling starts, none have been decent enough to publish. I promise that when we get a decent one (probably when we head back to Germany next year), I'll post up a link here.

Many thanks again, guys and girls - sorry this post doesn't actually contain any extra photos or videos, but when I have some which will be on interest, I'll post again smile

Kind regards,

Darren

Nice pair darren. The photos do look good but imagine what a pro photographer could do with those. There are plenty on here, may be worth giving them a shout. Im a big believer in having photos of all the cars I have ever owned, especially if they were as nice as yours and your bro's. The Audi colour is great, thanks for posting.
