I like it. What product are you using to shine the tyres?

Pistonheads really has turned into barryboys dot.com.

Get rid of the bloody stupid stretched tyres for gods sake.
Why? Because it's not to your taste? Ph is spoilt by snobby, arrogant arses such as yourself.
Ph was so far as i know started by people with the same "snobby" views as myself for people who enjoy driving cars not for people who like putting stupid tyres on them that prevent them being driven properly and safely.

As an aside he posted and asked opinions he got mine. If he doesnt like it tough he shouldnt have asked.
Where does it say this chap doesnt like driving his car?. He obviously does as he's spent a lot of time, money and effort on it.

I think I'll go and troll all the threads with cars I dont like in...oh hang on...why bother.

Its obviously someones pride and joy so no need to be so rude about it if you dont like it.

Sadly though people such as you are far too common on this site which is maybe why its got such a bad rep....so well done.

Anyway, I'm going off topic.
Blah Blah really not interested. i dont go trolling just to help you out here. User posted in members car i clicked on the link to his car to see it and was presented with a stupid euro look golf. He may like it but its not safe no matter what is said tyres are not designed to be put on rims like that it will ruin the ride and there is no way you could drive it on a rough surface or at any sort of speed without the risk of the tyre coming loose from the rim.
Speaking as an ex egineer for one of the largest tyre companies in the world...we never saw any issues with stretch tyres but shhhhhhhhhhhhh...its a secret.

But anyway, thats not my issue. My issue is someone being rude for no reason when someone has posted their car on here. I (and I'm sure plenty of others) see lots of cars on here that we think are crap but dont feel the need to tell the owner. If they like it great, good for them. Saying that PH wouldnt be PH if there werent rude ignorant people on here.

Personally, I don't like the look of the rear wheels on this car.

I don't have a problem with wide wheel and stretched tyres per say, as long as people realize they are ruining the way their cars drive. I've done it myself-never again, my corrado VR6 drove 10 times better on it's standard speedlines than on the 16x8" BBS RS i put on it.

I don't mind seeing non-performance cars styled like this, it's all about aesthetics, but i do get dissapointed when i see proper drivers cars with oversized wheels and skinny tyres, It's obvious the owner just bought the car to look cool and brag down the pub about the performance, and thats just sad.

I can't say I am mad on the rims and I have never been into the euro look myself, especially on modern VWs, but it looks very tidy and clean.

Are you over on uk-mkivs.net?

Green dubb he asked peoples opinion . Sure i could be all nicey nicey and dress up my opinion so as not to hurt his feelings but i dont believe in doing so. If he doesnt like people telling him their true feelings about his car he shouldnt post pics and ask peoples opinion.

Personally i think in the main that cosmetic personal changes are stupid as the money you waste on them you could buy a nicer car. As for the safety aspect its been widely debated and whilst you may be an engineer who worked in the industry and believe them to be safe i am not so convinced nor do i believe they will do anything to improve ride and handling of a vehicle i actually believe they will do the exact opposite.

Where safety is concerned has lateral load testing been done on tyres fitted like this then with varying tyre pressures foor certain that you yourself have seen the results of or do you know of where i could find such info?

As you seem to know a lot about the subject; What are the benefits of stretched tyres?

I personally think you've made the front end look more dated than a normal Mk4 Golf, but to each his own.

No ones asking you to be nicely nicey, just dont be so rude. However I get the feeling that I'll just end up banging my head off the wall if I carry on with you about it so nevermind.

As for lateral load testing, one of our seniour engineers used stretched tyres on a car he used to track/race...never any issues. We never had any issued with any 'customers' that were using stretched tyres either, no claims...nothing. We didnt carry out any 'official tests' but we knew of plenty of people running them and they never reported any issues. Take from that what you will, if yout think they're crap fair enough. The stretch tyre debates been done to death and I think the OP's threads already been filled up with too much crap so it doesnt need doing again, here.

So back on topic.

That Golf is immaculate, and really suits the mods. It's also pretty quick. It's the nicest mk4 Golf I have seen to date.

Some of the members on here are a joke, and the reason the site gets a bad name. As for the knobhead who said the site has become more like Barryboys, he's right, it has. Barryboys is also full of middle aged men driving cheap, high-milage diesels, with a chip on their shoulder that a lad in his early 20's has a nicer car than them.

Jesus Christ, are you telling me you like the same car modifications now as you did at say, 23? I think not. Act your age folks.

I am with jimmyb on this one, the car looks ste and is too barryboy for PH, there are plenty of sites catering for barryboy cars, this site never has been about this sort of thing and it is noticeable that it is the newer/younger members who defend cars like this.

O/T for a sec sorry op.

Pooh the problem as has been discussed on a couple threads now is that since ph was taken over and became commercial there has been a steady shift in membership demographic.

Makes me wonder why your tyre company bothers to specify the range of rim sizes a particular size of tyre may be fitted to then, when clearly from your story, any width of tyre is perfectly safe on any width of rim. . . . . . .

This site is for motoring enthusiasts, someone could drive a lada riva and I couldnt care less...common shared interest and all that. Who died and made you boss of PH witht he power to decide who can join and what they can like/dislike?

Its people like you that give this site the bad rep of being populated by pompus arrogant morons....well done!.

Greendub you have hit the nail on the head there. this site is about motoring not modding. The only mods that were supported from the early days of this site were enhancements that improved cars performance and handling. However having said that the site is changing and whether for good or bad thats the way it is. This is now a secondary site for me due to the changes and i frequent another site more now.

What a silly thread, the Golf looks nice and has had done what the owner has wanted (his style), its each to there own, if we were all the same the world would be very boring.

I like and dislike it in equal measure. I like the passion he has for his car, the effort put into it and the enthusiasm for the project.

I dislike the look and shouts chav however.

Personally I thought PH was always anti-Max Power and hope it stays that way.

I also think that if someones posts their car up they should accept both praise and criticism alike. If all we do is praise everyone for being on here with their car we dilute what really makes PH, PH, and we also play a politically correct game where we are afraid to offend anyone. I'd hate that.
