When you say NVH much reduced,

can you expand!!
Sure, I binned the old lever shocks and replaced with a more 'modern' setup, the old tractor like tyres were replaced - they improved the ride a lot - much smoother.

Vibration in the steering has disappeared now too - rack was only held on by a couple of split pins 😳

The carbs were also leaking but have been rebuilt so the engine is running better, not as sluggish.

eek

And how should it be fixed (and presumably is now!)?

Yes, that was fixed along with some of the other issues at the garage.

So I had pretty bad brakes along with dodgy steering so they said the steering could have gone at any time and i'd have carried on in that direction and stopping would have been a challenge too!

Glad I just drove it around the - deserted - block during the first lockdown. Since then, prior to the fix, it was just driven onto the flatbed!

Fitted my 'Russian winch', neighbour was clearing out his garage and thought i'd like it for the jeep - good man smile

Had the first proper trip out in 'The Goat', took my boys out - they loved it especially the jumpy ride!!

Sun was out so the roof came off, such a difference to my last drive in the snow and frost. How people drove these things in the cold without full on artic wear!!

We were messing about near where we'd parked and the jeep invited quite a few curious people, some even taking pics. That doesn't happen with the TVR :/

Few more tasks to do when the weather holds - mainly sort the wheels.

Comes into its own in the sun, yeah its slow and noisy but a fun toy to bomb about in!

I thought of this car yesterday when looking at private plates.

The DVLA has dateless Irish registrations I presume could be applied to this - UAZ is one of the prefixes followed by 3 numbers. Dateless and a full match the manufacturer name is a pretty good combo if you're into that, no 469 unfortunately. They're all £250.

Funny you mention that, I did see UAZ 469 for sal last year somewhere, don't recall where but it certainly wasn't £250. If it were i would prob look to buy it smile

Thank you, have to hand some of the credit to Topcats Racing too who helped me with the mechanical and electrical side of things!
