My fuel economy is about the same, 22 Mpg as a long term average. It's round town that really kills it, which is a unfortunate as I live in the middle of a congested town. Fortunately I don't do many miles.
By comparison, on my last track day on my Clio, I did 300 miles, including 40 each way to and from the track, and averaged 25 mpg.

Unfortunately sold it beginning of the year as it wasn’t getting used and it was difficult to insure properly as no one had a clue what it was. Tried all the specialists, if they did know what it was they wouldn’t cover because of the Manchester post code. d with the legacys. If it was easier to insure I’d be searching out a 6 speed manual sti estate and keep it forever.

I'd missed one filter when servicing the car, the cabin filter.
Which was surprisingly grubby for the 15,000 miles it's veen in place.
Anyway, despite not really wanting to sell it, or knowing what to replace it with, I've resentfully put the legacy up for sale. I still may keep it and just sell the clio. But to be honest, i don't want to sell that either...

It's a long list. Must have 5 doors, a decent boot, good power and be fun to drive. Heated seats is a big plus for the family. I've had a test drive of a couple of hot hatches, and while they've been fast, I've not really fallen for them. They've lacked that charm/character the cars i really loved all had.

The main reason is that I need to go from two cars for me, to one car for me and a very low insurance group car for my son. So unless I can find some very cheap and local storage the Clio will also be going up for sale, once AW have fixed a couple more oil leaks.
So I'll be back to looking for one car that can do family duties, be fun to drive and possibly do an occasional track day...

I loved the Spec B - test drove the estate once and ended up buying a bog standard 2.0l Legacy saloon. Subarus do get under your skin.

How big does the car need to be for family duties? Anything saloon size, is just going to be too big, heavy and slow for track days (within your budget). So I'll be back to looking for one car that can do family duties, be fun to drive and possibly do an occasional track day...

The BMW and Alfa both seem too small for family stuff.
The main issue is that VAG stuff just doesn't do it for me. It leaves me cold. I'd prefer a 20 year old impreza... Perhaps I just need to drive a few more.

Might you consider a Japanese import E91 335i as a potential replacement? Or still too rich/too thirsty etc?
