Took a short video but can’t get it to upload.

Drop me an email if you want to see it.
But 2019 car with 29,335 miles. Main dealer serviced about 1200 miles ago roughly.
Fully warmed up after 11 mile drive home from work.
Engine running, cap does bounce about when unscrewed.

Just waiting on another recovery.

The wife drove it to her sisters, stopped for 5 minutes. Went to restart it and it's doing nothing. You hear a click from the relay for the starter but it doesn't crank. I'm getting the same generic non start fault code it had when the engine had blown up. As it was turned off willingly and sounded fine I'm hoping it's not a serious mechanical fault, just something silly like a bad connection on the starter motor.

The diagnostics show the high and low side on the starter are activated and the engine start parameter is enabled which makes me think that's all fine.

It all feels very much like last time, symptoms are exactly the same as when it was physically locked up with the cylinder liner so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned.

Has to be a live/earth connection, gear selector interlock or similar. Here's hoping. Fingers crossed for you.

Oh, let's hope it's just a loose connection, after everything you undid and put back, it's quite easy to miss something.
Even pro's do it, I had a main dealer once forget to re-connect the glo-plugs! AA man spotted it instantly.

After what you've gone through you're bound to think the worst, hope it's just a wire off or an ecu not cooperating.

Escy. Your perseverance with this car has been phenomenal. Now, IMO, is that time to get shot of the bloody thing. It's a mut. You will NEVER fully trust it. If you and you lady want a modern 4x4, go and buy yourselves an X3 or Q5.

I really hope this turns out to be something simple like a blown fuse or duff sensor.

I was expecting another twist in this saga but not so soon. Hopefully a quick fix but please sell it on for your own sanity!

There's only so many times you can say "But it's fixed now so won't fail again"

At this point in time, I think you’ll find that is a short circuit on the starter motor that has resulted in a fire…

This car is doomed. Get it running AGAIN and sell it. Cut your losses and run.

I'm sure it's something loose and we have nothing to worry about. Engines don't break when not running, unless left for 20 years. I'm pretty sure 5 minutes won't do it, even for a JLR product.
