Dropped the 18" 405Ms off with my pal today to be fully refurbed; should have them back at the weekend/early next week:

Interior received an in-depth clean as I'd shifted a lot of bulk compost yesterday and the dust got everywhere! The headliner was absolutely coated in it, so that's been hoovered first and then worked my way down!

Leather wiped clean with Dr Leather wipes (superb things) and the alcantara has been brushed clean

Collected the full refurbed 18" 405Ms from my pals this morning; will get the ceramic coated later on and they can have a few days curing whilst I'm over in Dublin. Will try and get them fitted on Friday

In two minds as well whether to bother with the 12mm spacers and stud conversion; thinking I'll more than likely not bother

That's a nice finish, when I eventually get my wheels refurbished I'll probably look for a similar colour.
BMW Ferric Grey Ross; goes so well with so many different wheels and colour cars etc wink

Just finished coating them; forgot how much that Gtechniq C5 stinks laugh

Really glad I had nearly a full bottle left; the price has shot up on Amazon!

Hat's off for getting stuck into the arches too. thumbup
Cheers Lee thumbup

It was hard work as it's bitter here and blowing a hoolie; got the rears done. Went in, had a brew and tackled the fronts and then gave it a quick snowfoam and hand wash as it was caked in grime

Using it properly for a change and getting it absolutely filthy inside and out biggrin

Loaded this morning with fruit bushes from our local, decent, nurseries and plenty of fruit potting compost wink

It's absolutely caked in ste inside & out... That'll be tomorrows job!

It does look well on the refurbed 405Ms though wink

Those wheels, in my opinion, are the perfect size. Not too big, not too small.
Cheers Ross

They're spot on IMO - plenty of sidewall to take the bad roads; but low profile enough to not be like balloons etc

Cannot comprehend what it must be like to drive on 20" wheels on these cars; the 19s were bad enough!

What sizes are the tyres?
235/45/18s Ross - OEM should be 225/45s but they're slightly stretched

I could have gone 245/40s but preferred the 45 sidewall

I'm still in 2 minds whether to fit the stud conversion and 12mm hubcentric spacers... rolleyes

Spacers can improve the look, but you risk various issues, not worth it in my opinion.
Never had any issues running spacers on any of my BMWs pal - all 4 E39s were on spacers; both my E65 and F01 were on spacers (F01 because I ran F10 19" wheels with an offset a bit tucked in compared to F01 alloys etc)

I've always used decent spacers and not eBay specials and not once have they caused any wobbles or other issues

The thing for the F31 is that the 405Ms are already quite close to the arches; but another 12mm would have them sitting perfectly...............

Decided not to run them Ross wink

The alloys are close enough to the arches for my liking; will sell the studs and spacers on biggrin

Full detail today; inside and out

Plenty of trips to the nursery gardens & tip = absolutely filthy inside and out (the nursery gardens carpark is sand based; gets everywhere)!

Wheels washed, snowfoamed, rinsed, handwashed, towel dried, AGs Rapid Ceramic Wax applied to the bodywork and Gyeon's Q2 tyre dressing applied and buffed off thumbup

I braved the DA this morning and gave the bonnet a once over and the tailgate

I used Koch Chemie 6.01 with a Lake Country cutting pad and in all honesty; they've come up superbly...

A new scratch appeared on the bonnet the other day; couldn't figure out how until I moved the car and saw quite a large branch off one of the trees in the woods down between the car and fence! It'd been blowing a hoolie the other day and it's clearly landed on the bonnet and left its mark!

But the DA has removed that (very happy) and quite a few other scratches... Tailgate looks much better too

I'll do the roof tomorrow and then give the car a full wash as the polishing dust gets everywhere; but it's no where near as bad as the likes of AGs Super Resin or Colour Restorer etc...

Mtec 5mm hubcentric shims (spacers) and stud conversion kit fitted this morning

Such an easy mod to do but makes life easier when it comes to taking off/refitting the wheels and the 5mm spacers have the wheels sitting perfectly now IMO

12mm spacer was too wide and I didn't want to go with 10mm as they don't clear the hub properly
