Thanks again chaps!

I have spent a week messing with this milling machine, there are a raft of issues with it (being from china). Noise issues, interface problems with a laptop (lower voltage parallel port) .etc

I have moved the VFD (spindle PSU) externally, its not in a case at the moment so its got a nice 230vAC going through it lol.. None of the wires are shielded so ive moved them out of the way until the new ones turn up.. This was causing errors like the z axis nudging slightly, it crashed the drill bit a couple of times (breaking them) and other problems were x and y axis nudging also..

This is the final setup (at least until i can mount them in cases)

I took some time tonight to offer up the Mitzi active aero mechanism.. The electrics are very easy to work with, im glad i chose this method..

As you can see, its actually a perfect fit where i want it.. Im going to be adding some more brackery to my traction bar to support it..

Im really busy on other things at the moment, and the milling machine spindle motor just burned out.. Im rather furious now but im hoping that the seller will sort it...

I thought i would stop by for a small update..

I have finished what i can do with the wheel arches now, having layed up fibreglass onto the wing, fibreglassed the rear of the arches and bonded them both, the shape of the arches no matches the contour of the body.

Ive added filler to the edges to smooth them in but i want to ensure that they stay separate from the car, even after respray- i dont want a bit of damage to require the respray of the whole panel..

Also finished mounting up the front active aero, i decided to do it off the traction bar, this is great as the strength is massive. It sits in the unused space between the front bumper and the chassis.

On another note, i was actually asked to make a little gizmo.. This converts the signal from an OEM stereo control (steering wheel, stalk whatever) to control pretty much anything, in this case a Race Technology DASH2

Also started adding additional support to the boot lid. Its not finished yet as the bottom needs flattening and plating but the rain started.. These structural elements carry the load directly from 2 points on each rear wing support to the member running along the bottom of the boot lid. This should disperse any force exterted by the wing itself under airbrake and normal use.

And just a little pic of the CNC miller running off my own engine position / coil on plug / anti lag controller.. It took 3 hours to do it lol, but its done now.

Great work. I wouldn't fancy the phone call to the insurance company to list the mods though lol.

It'd probably save time to reel of the part numbers which are still standard!

lol its funny you mention insurance.. My wife used to work in insurance so she handles it all.. We have a 20 page document which details every single modification. Adrian Flux apparently didnt have enough room in the field where they enter modifications. They were the ones who asked us for the document, just to have it on record..

Christ! Sorry to see that, but my money is on you creating your own new ultra-lightweight but perfect polymer, judging by your performance thus far!

lol lightweight polymer, do i look like a chemist lol

to be honest, i just got quoted £450 for a new one, so i may look into lexan whilst im at it..

I checked the house CCTV and it happened at 5:30 this morning, just as the sun hit it by the looks of things.. I assumed as much but since you mentioned it i thought i best check- i would have been more gutted at vandals as we live in a really really quiet area..

Polycarbonate rear window is definitely the way to go. The trouble is that by far the easiest way to make one is to use the existing pane as a pattern and now you haven't got one. Still, these things are sent to test us and I doubt a man of your ingenuity will be held up for too long.

A relief, I guess. Just could imagine in some neighbourhoods when people see the love and dedication you're putting into it, there's always some st who will ruin your day.
