I'm a sucker for Blue so I like it. Will it be just Blue or wearing Tyrrell F1 livery?
Oo oo. Tyrrell. With extra wheels? I've been enjoying your posts for ages, but had nothing to add so kept shtom. But I picked up a Beat a few weeks ago, it had been sitting in the back of a workshop for nearly 20 yrs. But it was the right money and nearby, so I went and got it. Only to find it had a cracked windscreen that hadn't been mentioned before. 'How hard can it be to sort that?' I thought! Pilkington Glass have a classic auto glass section, and it turns out a part number for the Honda Beat PP1. So I called them today, long story short, they've never made one and the lady cheerfully said it would be 'just' £6000 for them to make up the moulds. Now looking for plan B, but it's not a show stopper, the crack is not in the driver's eye line, so a repair may still be on the cards. Anyway, I don't know if it runs for more than a few seconds, at this stage, cam belt first up.
Love watching your's develop, good stuff.

Well done with your purchase ! Shame about the windscreen, be very careful jacking up the car before investigating or effecting a repair.
With hindsight I wonder if a lexan windscreen will pass an mot ? Might be worth investigating as if they can it could be your best bet to get one made. There was a 2nd hand screen on ebay recently too, alternatively get the grinder out
Good luck on the engine, in case you haven't found it yet there is good info and a very helpful facebook group too.

I'd imagine shipping a screen from a breaker in Japan would cost a lot less than £6,000! (Assuming they exist of course...)Love watching your's develop, good stuff.
Quite a few people have tried importing screens from Japan, where there not made anymore, but when they arrive they are more like a Roman mosaic than a usable screen!
Rocket, what boss did you use for the steering wheel, I've hear an Integra one fits. I'd like a Snap-Off one, but not sure what its compatible with, before forking out that much?

I bought this Boss from one of the Japanese websites, it wasn't expensive about £20 from memory. I haven't test fitted it yet though.
Peter has been busy, more colour tests, doors off repairing rust, bonda primer, and more work on the hood cover template. Also testing his airbrushing skills with a quick Honda badge for ultimate weight reduction. Will let the pictures do the talking.

Great thread OP.
there was a wheel dealers episode where they couldnt find a replacement screen, so found a screen with the same curvature and then cut it down to shape.
take a watch - its fascinating - maybe something you could consider.

Thanks I am someway past the refitting a windscreen now (even though I do still have the surround/frame just in case) but that is clever stuff none the less.there was a wheel dealers episode where they couldnt find a replacement screen, so found a screen with the same curvature and then cut it down to shape.
