Lot 77 - 06 Fiat Panda 1.1 (another pile of crap? stop it!)
Discussion
These run really badly if the MAF sensor has gone. It probably won't show a code but will be rough and slow, only way to tell is by looking at live data. If it doesn't seem to be measuring right changing the MAF won't cure it until you reset the ECU (if there is a code). There is also a problem that has something to do with either the glow plug relay or another (blue if I recall) behind it under a cover. I haven't gotten to the rout of that problem yet though.
They're not a bad van but make sure the aux belt is in good condition, when they go or shred they can take timing belt out due to the fuzzy felt timing covers.

Panda is still in bits but just to convince you that I haven't become any more sane recently meet the newest member of the fleet
Yes it's a 1.9 dci, yes it's done some miles and yes it has some of the usual 1.9dci problems
Those drive better than any of those VW Transporter things, IMO. I temped as a multi-drop driver for half a year, and drove just about every new van under the sun. Transits always the nicest to drive, but these were more car-like than anything else. I wouldn't say they were built well, but no worse than the T5's which were losing bits of interior trim.Yes it's a 1.9 dci, yes it's done some miles and yes it has some of the usual 1.9dci problems
The most fun van was a high top, LWB Renault Master 2.5. HUUUGGE!

We had a couple of minibuses hired on holiday once, one of these and a 06 transit. The renfault was way quieter and more comfy than the transit. The most fun van was a high top, LWB Renault Master 2.5. HUUUGGE!
I make a wide berth for Trafics over 3/4 years old. No end of wallet emptying faults from injectors to engine bearings to diff. No warning with some of the issues, and can be a complete sod to work on. 2 mates have them, one started knocking with no previous issue - ended up piston slap and wrote the van off. The other had a geabox whine start, it bugged him and along with a new clutch while the box was out lightened him to the tune of just over £1k. Starter motors can be epic, one took me 3 hours, with a 2 poster!! just not nice to work on at all! Hopefully its an easy fix. My 15yr transit has been epic seeing as it tows a 3t trailer some of the time. Not bothered if it feels agricultural but it does the job.
So, have you got the Panda going? I was looking at some cinquecentos as run abouts with engine issues, seems like there are lots of them about!
