Vini – the Powerflex V8 Mini

Sold!!!
Oh wait, even if it were for sale, I could not afford something like that! Build it maybe, but it is a genuinely stunning level of work, and as a builder I appreciate that you, as the customer, want that level of work. All too often people want something amazing, but want it to cost 30p and a packet of biscuits!

The obsessive attention to detail, the quality of the fabrication, the vision..... just staggering.
If a bunch of BMW Group engineers had decided to build this in some skunkworks somewhere, it's hard to imagine it would have been this beautifully executed.
Massive, massive respect to all involved

Bad Obsession Motorsport: *takes about 3 decades to build an absolute bonkers Mini with ridiculous attention to detail and about a zillion extra brackets*

Pretty sure this car has more resources thrown at it than Binky does, so your comparison is pointless.98eight: *throws together Vini with ridiculous attention to detail and about a zillion extra brackets in 15 months*

This build, the Mustang and the semi rat pick up build are amongst the best builds Ive ever seen on here.........
Mustang?wow, crazy, deep respect for the detailed work and thinking etc, wow...
I have such lovely engine build in a Z3, wanted it for years in a Z1 but when I finally could start it, the BMW Z1 were way up in price, double of that when I started to think about doing such project mostly build by others, so it became a Z3.
Love that IT filter also, nice low so it fits under the bonnet, the original cool collector is very high, they made a special aluminium one for mine, but its a bit loud... compared to the original plastic house, but hey.
anyhow, lovely job, I guess soon we will see a short video of it running.

This is a really interesting project, but it is not the first V8-powered Mini.
Back in the '90s GT Developments created this crazy V8-powered Mini Pickup with a cut and shut Mini Pickup shell married to a shortened GTD40 chassis.
Since the GTD40 was mid-engined, the big Ford V8 sat in the bed of the cargo area, and huge flares were added to cover the big wheels.
During the Brighton Speed Trials the geabox developed a fault so that only first and fourth gears worked, but the Mini "Thug" Pickup still did a 14 sec quarter mile!

Good effort but I'd rather have one these (original mini)

Looks fantastic, a real put you sleeper. Have you seen the Renault Clio V6's ? They look awesome with the body kit but the real killer the engine is midship. So it is a baby supercar. I don't know but I think they must handle great. I bet they fly round the track like a quad skate.
Don't they have the turning circle to rival an aircraft carrier? Would that impact track performance on twistier tracks?@OP - loving this thread, awesome effort

Puts me in mind of talking to someone at Shelsley Walsh who competed before the event was shortened to a 1/4 mile - an alleged 180mph trap speed in his Formula 5000 car along Brighton sea front - no thanks... Oh yes - superb build OP, absolutely mental thing, love it!
