There was an Italian registered one of these parked at the roadside overlooking Lake Como in Bellagio when we visited the Italian lakes.
It was extremely well used, dirty, scratched, dented and generally dog-eared and I genuinely thought it was one of the coolest things I had ever seen - it just looked so "right" in that environment.
Then the next day I heard it start up and drive off - sounded like an absolute bag of nails!!
Still looked some way beyond sub-zero as it rattled off though!!
9-5 looks good btw and nice to see it back getting some use
Thanks mate, yeh sometimes I worry about the fuel costs but when I consider my friends spend £200+/month just to own/rent a little hatchback I'm happy to put the same amount in the tank every month. It was extremely well used, dirty, scratched, dented and generally dog-eared and I genuinely thought it was one of the coolest things I had ever seen - it just looked so "right" in that environment.

I love the sound of that Italian registered QP; a big old posh car getting used and abused, reeks of 'old money'.
Rears tinted by https://www.nottinghamwindowtint.co.uk - their quality of work is incredible so can strongly recommend. Does look a bit drug dealery but I like it

Clean as a whistle
Next plans are for a Rouse spoiler (designed for a special edition of the Sierra Sapphire Cosworth; here's a little mockup:
Bit gutted as the Brembo brakes won't fit as they are too custom, something to do with the calliper offset.
4 of us going in this to the Nürburgring hopefully in late August, can't wait!

still looking good, the spoiler looks like it would fit very nicely too. I always wanted to put the standard cosworth spoiler on my orion many, many years ago.
Thanks, yeh should look spot on. Not sure how I'd get it aligned perfectly when fitting though, need to find a good bodyshop! Was at Santa Pod on Sunday; lots of lovely Saabs there including a track slag 9000 and a couple of 9-3ss.
I managed a 14.4 at 102 mph, which I thought was ok considering the launch was terrible. Also suffering from boost issues. At a guess it's making around 315 bhp 370 lb ft at present.
I got battered by an EP3 Type R though which did a 13.5 at 102 mph. It was stripped out, had 230 bhp and a Quaife LSD though but was still gutting seeing the back of a Type R after all the work I've done to mine! LSD and less weight are needed!
Even more impressive was a friend's mapped E60 535d that ran a 13.3 at 106 mph! To be fair it's RWD and has 360 bhp and 750 NM so..
I'd be interested to hear what times and speeds others have achieved on here.. the Skoda Superb on here is bloody mental, wish I had 4WD and DSG!
Is it possible to look more American?
In other news, this weekend I'm off to have a look at a Quaife sequential gearbox and GTX2863r turbo

I guess the dilemma is you either go lighter or try and over come weight with more power and then you end up struggling to put that down due to front wheel drive.
It's still impressive what you've managed to squeeze out of your saab though.
Yes I'm getting a fibreglass bonnet and boot made soon, should save around 50 kg.It's still impressive what you've managed to squeeze out of your saab though.
Last time I weighed it it was 1480 kg.
I'd like to keep it as a daily driver so the only other weight saving measures would be wheels. Perhaps some big comfy bucket seats would lose a tonne of weight, and surprisingly an Abbott Racing flywheel can save around 20 kg.

You already know my time but here we go. 265bhp and 470nm with no lsd. 14.2 @98mph. The launch was easy as it just hooked up thanks to the massive grip at pod.
What tyres were you running? That's really impressive, mine just bogged down in 1st, I couldn't really floor it until 20 mph.egor110 said:
I live about 10 mins from exmoor so most my driving is b roads.
I went from a clio 172 cup - saab 9-5 aero- bmw 325ci which has been quite interesting to compare them all.
I still think over exmoor the clio is quickest due to weighing bugger all , there just isn't enough straight bits for the saab's turbo to kick in i found just as the saab was hauling me out of a corner i then had to brake for the next corner where the light weight clio i just hardly braked and carried more speed thru every corner.
The bmw is kind of in the middle , it's a big old heavy car but the straight 6 is more immediate than the saab and it has bags more torque than the clio , yet i think the clio was still quickest on these b roads.
Of course on nice flowy a roads , motorways the the saab would be quickest and it was far more comfortable and quiet than the clio.
Re trying to loose weight i think it's probably more trouble than it's worth , enjoy your saab for what it is , a big comfy fast car once you start stripping stuff out you'll loose that without gaining much.
My clio cup from factory had thinner glass, less sound deadening , aluminium bonnet, plastic wings , no abs , no air con, cloth seats all to loose weight , that's a hell of a lot to strip out the saab and to be honest it was fine as a toy but it was noisy and if i was commuting every day it would be a right pain in the ass.
I bet the Clio was a right blast. I drove a Phase 1 172 a couple of years ago and it felt so raw, was amazing, think it's to do with having a throttle cable instead of electric as per the Phase 2s.I went from a clio 172 cup - saab 9-5 aero- bmw 325ci which has been quite interesting to compare them all.

Yes I'd never strip the interior out, but let's say it's 1480 kg now; with lighter flywheel (-20 kg), fibreglass bonnet and boot (only costing me £50 so why not) (-50 kg), lighter (but still comfy) front seats (-40 kg), that brings the total weight to approximately 1370 kg.
With the bigger turbo it should be pushing around 400 bhp; which would equate to 292 bhp/tonne, about the same as an F10 M5.

A very impressive car indeed - I'm a big fan of a sleeper! However, you're currently a 1sec and 8-9mph off an E39 M5 over the quarter. I'm sure you can make back some of that with a LSD, but I'm not sure it's quite "on par".
Here you go 13.2 at 103 mph:https://youtu.be/_hZvkzO6Ems
Despite the much better launch and time the trap speed isn't that high; only 1 mph more. I reckon I could stick with an e39 M5 from a roll, did chop up an old XJR a while back, guess it's down to the weight.
Yes currently looking at a gen 2 GTX2867r and uprated gearbox with an LSD. Should produce between 420 and 450 bhp. Then is ought to be on par with an e39 M5 being 350 kg lighter with fibreglass bodyparts etc added.
Well maybe not over the quarter but from a roll it'll be utterly brutal.

Sounds like the clutch is going. What's fitted? My old 9000 with Sachs uprated kit slipped a couple times after some hard starts to get a good 0-100 (had to get it under 10s but never did!!) but seemed to calm down after a hundred miles or so normal driving. Wouldn't be too worried yet unless it's slipping under light load, my v6 had a slippy clutch for over 2 years! Just had to adjust how I drove it.
Anyway.....good excuse to go for the diff when the box is out The Quaife will transform how it goes mate trust me. Mine felt like there was an extra 50hp under my right foot!!!
It can't be though as the clutch is nearly new, 550 NM Maptun one.Anyway.....good excuse to go for the diff when the box is out The Quaife will transform how it goes mate trust me. Mine felt like there was an extra 50hp under my right foot!!!
Could be the slave cylinder?
Yes will nurse it around until then.
Any updates with your V6?

Haven't even looked at it mate, skint atm with a new baby and pretty much flat out with her. Pretty sure the engines shagged though so. It really worth fixing. We bought a Juke last month to cart the baby around, missing the Saabs performance but happy enough with the Juke.
Re the clutch, mine had around 3k on there when it started slipping, only happened a couple times and right after the hard launches. I drove it normally for a couple hundred miles and was fine after that. Just take it easy in it for a bit and see how it goes
So you don't think it could be the slave cylinder?Re the clutch, mine had around 3k on there when it started slipping, only happened a couple times and right after the hard launches. Thanks will take it easy from now on.

have you looked at the brake fluid is it cloudy, contaminated, that would be the slave failing, the rubbers going. it is only a rod pushed by the hydraulic force, shouldn't really impact engine revs. Sticky gear changes would be a symptom.
That's a great shout. No sticky gearchanges but the brake warning light has started coming on New flywheel, slave, brake pads and clutch being fitted; back on my bike I go for a couple of weeks.
They're worth all the hassle though aren't they?!
Flywheel needed resurfacing and 550 NM clutch is pretty buggered. Bought from Neo Bros and only done 3k miles since installation so will be having words with them
