Small update, noticed that the chrome trim on my knob (stop sniggering) was flaking off, thought that would be a new knob (you're sniggering again) but apparently not, the chrome trim, gate pattern and shiny bit are just an insert, so I could have ordered one off tinternet but I have a Ford parts centre near me so popped in there and grabbed one, £18, and set about making my knob look all shiny and new(I can hear you sniggering!!!)!!!

Mmmmmmmm shiny!!!

Had our first expenditure on Peanut on Monday, £264 for new discs and pads on the front, noticed she was pulsing on breaking a while back, Mrs Bobbers decided to get her booked in and sorted, usual garage we use sorted it for us using genuine Ford parts as that's what Mrs Bobbers wanted, definite improvement and a happy Mrs Bobbers!!!!

Bit of an update, Rio has finally been on a decent trip, our friends live in Wales and it was his 60th birthday on the 29th of January so we were invited up to theirs for the weekend, a lovely journey there and back and Rio performed faultlessly, Google maps took us via a shooting range at Brecon which was very twisty and hilly, I may have made Mrs Bobbers feel slightly ill by chucking Rio around, as when we arrived at our friends place she immediately told me she was driving back!!! hehe
Anyway Rio arrived and was parked in front of their stunning place in the Valleys!!

We had a great weekend and returned on the Sunday with Rio getting very dirty!!!

So I finally got round to giving him a clean today!!

End of the month/beginning of next month will see a PumaSport uprated intercooler, K&N filter and a remap by a local guy.....

yikesrofl
I know Rio's getting on but he's not quite that old, although I did discover some rust bubbles on the drivers side rear arch/sill so he'll be going back to my mate for yet more bodywork!!! frown

Evening Eyersey, both good thanks old chap, although Peanut is having money spent on her, 4 new Uniroyal Rainsport 5's and a full alignment just cost £420 and on Thursday we have her MOT and a minor service, we had a major done in September last year and she's only done a couple of thousand miles, but all the forums say to change the oil twice yearly as Mrs Bobbers does such short journeys!!!
And Rio goes in for a K&N filter and remap on the 26th before i take him to Mercedes Benz World for the PH Sunday Service on the 27th!!
Still enjoying your newer Focus?

That's not too bad. At least it was something easy to fix

Update time, Rio has been played with!!! eek
nono not in a Gary Glitter kind of way!!!
No, first I fitted a K&N filter, the old standard one has been in the car 18 months.

Then this morning he paid a visit to a local tuner called James Diggins Automotive,

I left him there for about 3hrs and received a message to he was done, so returned to collect him, didn't make as much power as I was hoping, 140bhp and 352nm, was hoping for nearer 150bhp, but after driving home I'm really pleased with the results, much more linear power delivery, huge improvement in in gear acceleration in 3rd and 4th, well worth the £360 the filter and map cost!!

Really enjoyed reading this thread all the way through, it’s always nice to see tinkering updates!

I’ve never owned a Focus estate, but we had them for work, and I’ve covered many, many miles in them. I absolutely loved them, and was very disappointed when their time was finally up, and they were replaced with Peugeot estates which were terrible on every level in comparison. Especially handling (which I discovered when sailing confidently into a known corner in the Pug….things got interesting).

Hi darkyoung1000, thanks for taking the time to read through, following a couple of your threads myself!!
Yeah, going from a Focus to almost any Peugeot is quite a change, to be fair the Focus is a good handling car in the first place.

I agree about the Focus being a good handling car, I still miss my old Mk2 estate though my Mk3.5 is a lovely car, much more refined and from inside the car it is so quiet you can't tell it is diesel.

Another little update, Rio took a trip to Mercedes Benz World this morning, where he lined up alongside some much more exciting cars on the Railway Straight of the old Brooklands circuit!!

145 mile round trip which he did faultlessly, 5th gear acceleration to clear slower moving traffic us just effortless now!!!

Well, well, well, another update!!! yes
We took Rio to Bath yesterday, unfortunately due to the sheer cost of and difficulty in parking in Bath we abandoned him at Odd Down park and ride!!

Driving there was a lovely trip, still really enjoying the effortless power delivery!!
Don't know who these two idiots are?!?

Had a lovely time wandering round Bath, did the Roman Baths and the Assembly rooms, had a spot of lunch and then back to pick up Rio and on to our overnight accommodation, The George Inn and Plaine in Norton St Phillips, an absolutely beautiful 17th century coaching Inn with a separate house converted to rooms and suites over the road from the Inn!!

View from our window in the lounge area of our suite.

If you zoom in on the left side of the picture you can just about see Rio in the car park!! smile
After a splendid breakfast this morning we left and travelled to Cheddar Gorge and Cheddar village, sadly time for a bit of a rant, whilst driving through the Gorge is a fascinating experience with plenty of places to stop and explore/take pictures, Cheddar Village itself is very much a tourist trap!!
We went to park in a little car park in the village only to discover it was £5 regardless of stay time, we didn't have enough in coins to pay the fee, the machine only accepts phone payments and charges an additional fee for using it, none of the local shops were accepting cash or would change notes for parking!!! irked
We did eventually get parked further down, had a bit of a wander and managed to spend £68 in the Cheddar Cheese shop!!!
Some pics of Rio in the Gorge and of Cheddar itself.

Mrs Bobbers has just reminded me about an incident as we were driving from Norton St Phillips to Cheddar Gorge, we'd not long left and found ourselves on a lovely windy stretch of road, I just couldn't help myself and started throwing Rio around at a decent clip, she suddenly pipes up with, "just to let you know if you continue doing that, I am going to throw up on you, I've only just eaten breakfast you knob!!!" hehe

Looks like you have had a good time, I wouldn't mind a trip to Cheddar Gorge at some point

Nice to see it being loved and getting some use. Looks great.

Think the reason they don't map that well is the old design of head, you cant get much more air into it easily.
