So as my X45e is delayed I have been in a BMW loan car since the beginning of May.

Not complaining because it's a factory fresh M5 Competition 😁

My car was due to arrive next week but I've just been informed that:

"The car is built and made its way to Europe

However, all X5s are being held for a ‘technical campaign’ before being shipped to the UK

We believe it is a Software Update but they are doing them on mass."

Hmmmm.......

Sounds like a result .. more time in the M5

Mine is wanting to do an over the air software update ... So probably nothing serious

Got my replacement two weeks ago. Getting some very good runs on the battery, everything is working as it should. Very happy with all the chosen options. Absolutely love it. Really, and I mean really hated the wait, not sure I’d do it again. I feel for you guys having to do so. Interesting news about the update, mine has a software dated 03-2021, I wonder what they’re changing?

The (hypothetical) prospect of owning this vehicle doesn't appeal as much of the thought of it. It seems far too susceptible to software issues to warrant confidence in its reliability.

Does anyone have remote cabin preconditioning working on a UK car? Told by the dealer that BMW removed preconditioning and remote start for UK market.

Yep Aircon or heat run via the app or the diamond button on the key
Or the timer

It also asks you as you turn it off if you want to keep the climate running

This is definitely on a UK X5 45e? Because the dealer are telling me it's not available in the UK. Only ventilation.

I've got it on my 45e which I collected at the end of May this year.

You can’t start the car but you can turn the climate control on and off from the app in the uk. The climate control can also be set for a departure time via the app. As well as setting a charging schedule.
Just to repeat you can’t start the engine from the app. Having said that I don’t know what would happen if the hybrid battery was flat. I’d assume the climate control would not work in that situation.

You get the same features on the display key as well

Functions vary from country to country based on local legislation...

I've had mine just over a month now, absolutely love it. Done around 1200 miles and only used 1.5 tanks of petrol as I charge it at work. Bit slow to charge as it's an older charger but generally 6 hours from empty to full. Podpoint at home does it slightly quicker and I've left the 3 pin in the garage in case I want to charge in there ever but imagine that's an overnight job.

Really smooth drive, holds the road well (other car is a Disco 5 TDv6 and it's chalk and cheese driving wise). Good options as standard, though I wish I'd have spec'd the black grille as the silver one looks a bit st in comparison.

The thing that will annoy some of you is that it came 2 and a bit months earlier than the September date I was given, it meant I had to cut short a lease but work covered the cost so not a disaster.

Had to have a tracker fitted for insurance, slight pain in the arse but I got the bare minimum tracker spec required and it was fitted into the boot lining at my house and took around an hour.

Can't recommend enough though, had some nice cars before but this is my favourite by a long way.

Just burning through my second tank of fuel and 1500 miles. 80+ mpg so far. Lucky you to get it so early.

Me too, but in black. I was tempted by the sports seats but thought it a bit much, and I'd already gone a bit crazy on the options list. They seem comfortable enough to me unlike my wife's old M140i seats which I found awful.

I've got a 3rd child on the way. Other two are 11 and 4. Is the X5 45e any smaller than a regular X5? I've read the boot is smaller but unsurd whether that was just the under floor storage and that the boot is a few cm higher?

I can get the car via my business purchasing it. It's this, model Y or XC90 t8 on the shortlist...
