I didn't realise this was the same chap who owned the green gta and used to post on alfaowners. Small world!
What happened to the green bogie?
I used to have a gtv 3.2. Used to be on there all the time.
Yep, that was me. Sold it in 2012, and it was written off a short while later. Owned quite a few things since then. A rusty 405, XM, Xsara VTS, XC70, C5 estate, Xantia Activia X2, V70R, C4 VTS, Panda 100HP and my current XC70. Don't think I've missed anything. What happened to the green bogie?

You are but I bet you won't do that again...
Honestly, what possessed you? In my experience, anything sub 5k from a dealer is going to be rough af.
...and you buy a cheap high miler Impreza unseen from a dealer? Tbh, I'd have been amazed if the outcome had been the opposite and you ended up with a great car.

In that case, I'd seriously chomp their hand off.
I've no doubt it will be battered down when they see it, but whatever happens I'm losing a s![](/inc/images/censored.gif)
It works , it has a long mot just run it until the mot runs out then at least you've had some use out of it .

Slight thread derailment.....what were the XM and Panda 100hp like?CarlosSainz100 said:

I was down at Autolusso a few weeks ago....they do fantastic better than new gtas' now for big money....
I love how many commentators get into the swing of things when the thread starts, and then if things go a bit south everyone jumps on their high-horse!
I'd rather be one of those people who takes chances at things and risks it for a biscuit, rather than commuting in a silver Audi TDi in a suit listening to Coldplay and judging those who stick their neck out occasionally. And, if this car was as believed, it wouldn't have been a massive risk. Tatty paint and higher miles, but a good runner? It's not that big a risk, really. Not unless tatty paint and high miles means rusty and incontinent. I didn't think it did, but many people seem to think it could do.
Sometimes things work out, sometimes things don't. It won't be the last daft car he buys sight-unseen, because life is too short to live on PCP.

Have a read:I was down at Autolusso a few weeks ago....they do fantastic better than new gtas' now for big money....
XM - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Panda - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Quick summary:
XM was cool but old and not very exciting. Coming from a GTA to an Auto XM wasn't going to go very well.
Panda was fun, but ride and size got tiring fairly quickly.

Surely the flip side of that argument is that life is too short to waste time and energy on a rough old banger, that you'd still, as the OP puts it "lose a sI'd rather be one of those people who takes chances at things and risks it for a biscuit, rather than commuting in a silver Audi TDi in a suit listening to Coldplay and judging those who stick their neck out occasionally. There's a happy medium somewhere between leasing a boring silver Audi and buying an absolute pup unseen.
That happy medium starts with viewing a prospective purchase. Or at the very least asking the seller for detailed close up photos of any problem areas. Even then it's a risk.
To go through this experience and to say "I'd do it again cos life is too short" would be a bit daft, but each to their own.
Losing the sort of money that would take his wife and kid on holiday cannot be fun.
I bet he'd rather be doing that than crawling around an old Impreza to lose a grand plus, as I guarantee WBAC will not pay £2000 once they inspect that car.
I like these daft threads. They're good for a laugh and I can relate to them, but this was me aged 18. I'm 40 now and have left that sort of car buying behind me.
And no I don't drive a leased silver Audi.
I drive old stuff, new stuff, cheap stuff and expensive stuff. They all have one thing in common though. I view them first.
