A good and unbiased review. At least you scratched that itch...

Is there perhaps something that leaves you wanting more with the M3... perhaps you've made it too perfect too soon and now there's no prospect of interesting titivation?

I have no intention on changing any time soon. There is plenty of titivating and upgrades I could do, but I want to keep it standard for the time being.

Interesting to hear your thoughts on the Quad; I’m a big fan although I’ve never driven one. I think they’re very pretty and have lovely paint finishes which seem to really pop in the sun. I think they’re a bit better looking than the equivalent M3.

Nothing modern will have the same induction noise as your car; they’re all exhaust. My 335i is quite noisy but it’s all exhaust which is fine.

Do you think you’ll ever add anything like a carbon plenum to add to the induction noise? Big money, but they sound epic.

No I doubt I would. They do sound fantastic but I'm more inclined to keep it original. I'd rather spend that on something like having the subframe removed, sandblasted and powder coated, for example, to ensure the longevity of the car.

I'd love a go in both the G82 M4 and the Quad Ross, so I've enjoyed your experience share with them both cheers. Induction noise wise the E9x M3 does take some serious beating for sure.

I wasn't able to push the Alfa as hard as I did the M4 but even at moderate speeds I just felt the M4 that bit more fun. I think the engine in the M4 is better too, but it doesn't sound great.

Despite its looks I'd consider a G80/G82 M3/M4 next. I haven't driven an F8x series but I gather the current gen is a significant step forwards. I'd like the F8x looks with the current Gen's everything else!

That’s probably far more sensible!

Probably worth getting the rear arch liners removed and cleaning behind them. I did on on the 330i yesterday and it’s a bit crusty, solid but crusty. I’ll deal with both sides later in the summer. And check my 335i too.

The poster up there ^ hit the nail on the head I think. The E90 really does take some beating. I'm thinking of selling mine but no idea what to swap to. I've been out in a Giulia too and it does make a better daily but it's definitely not worth the price uplift from the E90 as Ross says. The E90 is certainly an event to drive smile

Interesting, I'll add that to my list too!

Definitely worth doing. It looks like the rear liners trap a lot of ste. This is want greeted me when I removed the nearside rear liner

Luckily it’s solid (for now) when I poked at it with a screwdriver. This was on a 2006 330i with 159k on the clock. I’ll be checking my 335i at some point too.

Thanks for the pic, I'll definitely be taking my rear arch liners off when I have a chance after looking at yours!

I'll definitely get this on the to-do list! I should think/hope mine isn't too bad, being a late 2011 car with 88k on it but you never know.

Is it not worth doing the fronts, too?

I've enquired about the cost for having the rear subframe dropped, all rust removed, powder coated etc and replace subframe bushes etc..... So it may be worth doing it all at once. RE the subframe it isn't desperate so will see what the quote is. Any idea what I should roughly expect?!?!

Yup, I’m doing the front and rear and dropping the side skirts too.

Even if yours isn’t crusty yet, just cleaning out any crap that’s collected and protecting it will be worthwhile. At least the 330i has a new subframe, so I don’t need to worry about that.

OK I'll look at getting the indy to do this when I also get the rocker cover gaskets done later in the summer.

Quite an interesting article up on the current M3 CS. They've arguably chosen it's best angle...

I'd totally ignore the weight figure to be honest. Yes, it's a couple of hundred kilos more than my E90 but it doesn't feel it to drive. It feels bigger (because it is) but in terms of playfulness and liveliness it doesn't. I bet it's a good steer..... And the journalist seems to say it is.

It's just a shame RE the noise. The induction noise on the E90 is utterly intoxicating.

I do wonder if there is some form of cold air intake that can be fitted to the current car. That engine is sadly heavily restricted thanks to emissions, I do wonder how good one will sound with all gubbins removed.

Car was going in for front tyres and a check over this week but no courtesy car so it's now going in week after next.

One question..... One advisory was a weaping rocker cover gasket. Quote for one replaced is £350, both banks for £530, so it seems prudent to do both.

My question is how bad does it look in this image? What would happen if I left it for a while? I had planned on doing it in July or August but half of me just thinks wait until winter or something.

Cheers.
