Sweet Jesus, that Golf....his welding!
I loved how he was going to leave the two halves of the subframe unconnected until someone prompted him. If he ever finishes it, it'll be petrifying.Slow said:

At one time the Toyota J2 lump was the engine of choice for high-power road racers however, he changed over to Lexus V8 based engines 3-4 years ago and has experienced very good results. The Lexus V8 he is currently running in one of his cars pushes out approx 900 BHP at the wheels. In addition, he is also running NOS on the car. The engine was rebuild with upgraded components 3 years ago, a large turbo was added along with Motec ECU, dog box etc....... The NOS kit was installed last year and so far, the engine has been exceptionally reliable.

OP any idea of the weight distribution yet?
No idea whatsoever yet, and overall target weight is still a little sketchy, i had always hoped for 1000KG but after weighing both cars quite far into the stripdown i realised this was an impossible target.Maybe 1200KG i thought next but this too - a little unrealistic, im now hoping for less than 1400KG on the road before i start to do any real weight reduction (phase 1 im calling it now).

would love to see some pics of this engine and turbo instalation
That would certainly liven things up !! and i wouldnt have to worry too much about my previous post - saving a bit of weight !
Maybe Phase 2 ??

Hi , thanks for this , looks very interesting , I have sent an email asking for more info but have not received a reply yet . I had already thought about doing something similar but this could make it much easier for me.http://www.gtechnology.co.uk
I am hoping to get some more done soon but have been so busy with work recently that I have done very little to the car
I had a productive weekend and got some work done on the car , firstly i got the area between the rear of the rear doors and lexus rear bulkhead connected , this first pic shows the two cars and the 'gap' inbetween them :

then this is the after shot
![](http://thumbsnap.com/t/Y9I87GOH.jpg)
Work then moved on to the front end , photos cant really show how and where the supports and connecting pieces were welded in so i will skip straight to the end where i was able to cut out and remove the bracing which had been in since the roof was cut off the lexus , before :

after
![](http://thumbsnap.com/t/xEqxscyt.jpg)
There is more welding to do around the front end but i need to consider so many things at once i cant finish it just yet, now i am starting to put the standard espace dash top in and trying to get a standard-ish look to that area
![](http://thumbsnap.com/t/9wTUiWSb.jpg)
![](http://thumbsnap.com/t/wq3KWLV3.jpg)
This pic shows a standard espace dashboard
![](http://thumbsnap.com/t/4WOxQBhn.jpg)
I will try and get as much of this area mocked up before removing it all and making a sealed but removable engine cover panel , I have also placed the seats i bought in, and bolted them in to the place they were in the lexus.
That position was far from optimal and is now even worse in this body as the next pics show

![](http://thumbsnap.com/t/flfurV9Q.jpg)
![](http://thumbsnap.com/t/fDj55RIb.jpg)
To sum up i now have lots of half finished bits , ideas , thoughts and questions !!
