Are they easy to fit? Where do they wire in?

I've had one that's been half dead for years and can't bring myself to pay what Ford want for a new one...
They wire in under the rubber seal on the door so should just be plug and play .

You can have them if you want and I can bring them with me to anglesey so let me know .

Just to tidy this thread up a bit as Alex said about the fog light induction cold air feed and standing water causing a problem i have ordered a rubber cone bung that is very quick and easy to fit and will stop any water being sucked up by the air filter .

I found a unit made by Koomtoom that is a perfect fit .

And all installed .

Again just some more tidying up with things that have been done with the heat tape for the rear exhaust / bumper .

I have ordered some Magmashield heat tape to stop the exhaust melting the rear bumper / wires .

All installed and as this cant be seen unless you are under the car i did not need to be too neet and tidy .

Another update and this time nothing to do with any weight saving .

A few weeks ago after starting up the car I found out that it was running on three cylinders so did the normal checks of spark plugs first and they were all fine and then on to the coil packs and I found that coil number two was dead and not working .

Looking in to getting a replacement I did some research to see if there were any upgraded coil packs that you can get for the fiesta ST and found that Puma Speed do a Racing coil pack for the 1.6 engine .

After looking in to this more they are rebranded red top APR racing coil packs that are used on most of the tuned VW / AUDI stuff and are clamed to increase output by 10 % so may be of some benefit in a hi tune engine .

Below is the description from there website .

APR Ignition Coil

APR Ignition Coils are designed to be a direct plug-and-play upgrade to factory coils, and provide greater energy output, ensuring a stronger and more consistent spark. The commonplace replacement of factory ignition coils with those taken from higher output Audi RS models, such as the 2.5T, is popularly believed to provide greater energy output. However, testing proves that they are no more powerful than the factory coils that are found on 1.8T and 2.0T engines. APR Ignition Coils increase energy output by 10%. They are a direct upgrade or replacement, and come with the coveted red housing made popular by the Audi R8!

Old OEM Ford coil packs .

New APR coil pack .

Old Ford coil packs vs new APR coil packs .

And new APR coil packs installed .

Not sure that they will give much of an improvement over the OEM units but can’t hurt having a bit more energy output .

Very small update as I have got another small new part for the car .

As I have now removed all the speakers I needed something to be able to keep me entertained as some of the drives to some of the tracks can be a long hall .

I have ordered a new Anker sound core mini 3 that should do a good job .

And this fits perfectly in the cup holder .

TBF, I'm surprised you kept the centre console.... wink

You've removed the speakers, but I guess you had to keep the HU set-up as other controls there are linked to the OBC, door lock / unlock, etc.?
Im still hanging on to it is not a fully stripped out track car quote from me smile

Yes the HU has the sat nav and a lot of other functions on the car so i need to keep this and i still want to keep the inside of the car looking OEM and not like a fully striped out car .

Seems too low-cost for you. I was thinking more 'getting it re-made in carbon fibre, having it coated in anti-gravity nanotubes and blessed by the Pope'
The pope may be a step too far so i will have to slum it and go with the Archbishop of Canterbury smile

Well I don't have much to add, but I am very interested so wanted to say, what a cracking job so far!

How do you find the feel and pick up after stripping so much weight?
Many thanks and i have not driven it yet with the weight removed so cant comment on this yet and i still have a few more parts that will get the weight down a bit more but i will update when i give the car a shake down soon before Bedford .

Ah right, imagine it will be a bit of an eye opener!
It will be interesting to see what difference the weight loss has made to the car and how it feels .

One thing that will be out will be the corner weighting but i will look to get this re done later .
