I used your advice about the black dot in the weld and played with the wire settings a lot. I am getting the weld to be more convex now and they are improving all

Another tip - when you make a replacement section even if it’s just flat. Get a solid bit of metal and a heavy hammer and lay the bit flat against the metal and give it some bangs in the middle don’t go near the edges - it will concave slightly and add tension.
Not to dent it but to stretch the metal in the middle slightly it will help it sucking in after you weld it and giving it that funny look they get.
Try it on a scrap piece and see if you notice the difference.
Found a few more places where the welds were not completed around the cage, above is where the cage passes through the floor and picks up the rear suspension cradle. I will have to complete these.
Below: I have started to CAD then transfer to metal for the case over the exhaust to create a tunnel which will be air tight with a removable lid to get the pipe out. I have zircotec on the down pipe etc so I will probably do the same to manage the heat and also heat proof the insides of the cover. I think the boot floor and the exhaust tunnel might be raptor lined in white to match the body colour and then I will add a non slip additive to the floor wells which will then have a foot plate made. The rest of the inside will be smooth white paint.
This was actually quite complicated and consumed 1.5hrs as the floor is ribbed and angles away in places and I wanted as much in 1 piece as possible. I have folded 1.5cm returns at the bottom to give me lots of room to weld to and then similar on the top for the removable lid.

It shows how difficult it is to get custom fabrication right. Always seems to be the case you make one step forward and 2 back when there are so many custom parts on one car and it looks like the outfit doing the work can't charge for 2 steps back so just left things wrong and moved onto the next job.
It must be frustrating having to put it all right but it looks like you are well on the way to having it like it should be. I'm watching with interest.

thanks always lovely to follow such builds.wow, crazy lot of work... hats of to you so far.
follow with interest, love such smal monster cars.
In the very long time ago past, I've owned 13 peugeots, from those 11 were 205, almost all GTI variants, most 1.9 some with tuning from Gutmann and also had a 205 Dimma 1.9 with Gutmann tuning, but only 160ps, but above 140km/h or so it became slower then a standard 1.9 GTI because of more drag from the wide body
always dreamed about a 205 T16 and almost bought one in the UK a few years ago, but at that point I still had to sell my own car and after a few emails I got the message, it was sold... at a very good price, the car was as new, a later built T16 very rare.
This was my old Dimma, long long time ago, bad pictures, no digital camera at those days :-) I remember that often at stoplights when a car came up from behind, you often saw people pointing and how wide it was and so on and ofcourse the purple color.
anyhow, I wonder how this car is going to be, so I will follow it, thanks for sharing.

Yes, you realise how much thought and testing goes in to a production car. Modifying cars can be very frustrating...especially when you do not have a huge armoury of machines to solve certain problems. It must be frustrating having to put it all right but it looks like you are well on the way to having it like it should be. Some brilliant pics there, thanks for posting them. The T16 road cars were wonderful, they are just too expensive now. One of my close friends next door neighbours had one until quite recently, I think it sold for over £200k. The Rally cars are worth double that, I think.follow with interest, love such smal monster cars.

Love seeing Dimma's and those really set me off on this journey from having all the pics on my wall as a kid. It seems that so many people that you meet have 205 stories to tell and people just have a fondness for the cars. My Mum had 2 205s, my step sister had one, I have had 3, my step brother had a gti as well, best mate had one.....

I have sent this pic and a few others off to a wrapping company who seem to be able to do a complete wrap including the rally decals.
I've an Evo VII RS - part Grp N spec. which I've often toyed with getting wrapped in Tommi / Marboro colours. It's a ridiculous looking thing anyway so going full hog can't make it look more ridiculous.

I’d be interested to see what cost they come back with, if they haven’t done one before then there’s a lot of research and drawing time required before you get anywhere near printing or fitting the vinyl
Yes, I guess there is. I sort of envisaged an IT bod dragging and dropping snipped pics and adjusting the size to suit. Worst case I can have it pained or wrapped pure white and then get a graphics company to add the decals but worried about shrinkage and peeling.
